Do you know the spec on your locking 40mm shank lug bolts? If it is R14 Ball Seat you should be fine. If you don't know the spec can you email the supplier and see if they know for sure?

I am sure that they will work fine. They list the E63AMG and other AMGs which I am sure use the same lug bolt specs as the C63AMG.

I sent the seller an email requesting verification of the seat. Will see what they say.

Looking at those photos it's clear to me that the effective contact area by using the wheel lock will be drastically reduced. Note that the "R" in R13 R14 et al refers to "radius." I think we can agree that the locking bolt is not an R14, yes?

I'm afraid u are right bhamg cuz the locks definitely look different from my 40mm lugs.. But I'm having problem finding R14 40mm locks.. 36mm will be 3mm shorter than my 12mm spacers in the front.

So in ur opinion, is it safer to run 36mm R14 locks or 40mm 14 that I purchased? Thx a lot for ur help.

can I ask what you think about this? I was a bit sketched out by his response...

We have them with an R12 ball seat. This is an acceptable application especially since it is only ne bolt per wheel. I hope this helps.

The safe spec is considered minimum of 5 turns on a log bolt after engaging the threads. I went out to the garage to check on the OE number of turns - it was 7.25. So, there is some margin there...my bet is if you measure the threads you will be very close. The head of the RAD locking bolt is more difficult to defeat and you could torque an R14 bolt to full spec, something I would personally be uncomfortable with using a different radius bolt. Full torque means more more difficulty defeating the locking bolt by brute force means, so the RAD locks would probably provide some additional protection over the 40mm locks. Have you also considered the possibility of (microscopic) cracking on the wheel mating surface from cranking down with a mismatched radius bolt? IMO that's another reason not to use them.

Derek, r u meaning RAD only makes R12 locks @ 40mm? And R14 locks @ 36mm?

Bhamg, thanks for ur input.. U provided good infos. I will most likely make a decision this spring after at least giving the one I purchased a try for few 100km. I only drive my car on Sunday & put 3000km a year (most of them will be on my HRE in the summer), so I'll see if they vibrate or get loose.

Meng, honestly no clue lol. I bought the RAD 40mm R14 bolts from a seller on Amazon and then went back to him to ask if he had a set of matching 40mm R14 locks and he responded that he has R12 at that size and since there is only 1 lock on each wheel, it is safe to do...

So did u ended buying the R12 40mm from RAD? I'm also thinking 1 lock on each wheels might be ok since it's impossible to find the R14 in 40mm.

Not yet, wasn't sure if it was actually ok to do...just got that message back from the seller yesterday and was reminded of it by this thread I guess the question I wanna ask...are u going to use the 40mm R12 locks (given u can't find the R14)?

LOL, I can be ur guinea pig since I have them already.. But keep in mind, I'm not driving my car as much as u do. Nonetheless, I will update this thread after few 100km & re-torque to see if they got loose.

Edit: unless I find some R14 40mm locks by spring time.. I'm not comfortable using 36mm as of yet. Maybe my last resource.
