spacer issue
i know this has been discussed many times, but i need some help.
i got 10 mm spacers and installed them yesterday using 14x1.5x40mm bolts .. took the car for a drive, and barely made it back home, loosing 2 bolts on the way. I realized that the bolts i used were too long, but i asked the person on the phone on ezaccessory if that was fine and he said it was.
not sure what to do now, order new bolts, larger spacer ?
i like the effect the 10mm spacer has, so im thinking i want some new bolts .. what's a good website to get them from ? and which ones exactly do i need ?
would 14mmx1.5x35mm be the right size ?

stock are 27-28mm so 37-38mm should be fine...still not sure how they fell off just from 2mm extra. Were these lost bolts from the rear because the emergency brake can get in the way? Were the bolts snapped or just gone.

the issues was with the rear wheels, i had to stop and tighten them half way through the drive, but when i got home 2 of them unbolted and fell off, on the same side, rear left .. i think due to the space, the rim came undone a tad, and the vibration caused them to unscrew, thing is i can't seem to find a bolt between 35mm and 40mm, confusing to say the least

It's not the length that is the problem, I use 40mm with 10mm spacers just fine. There is another problem there. 3mm longer is no reason for bolts to come loose. I think there are bigger issues here.

I've been using and currently have spacers on all four wheels. I've even used spacers while road racing without a problem. I also use 10MM spacers with the 40mm length bolts. There has to be another problem??

I'm also using 40mm xtended lugs with my 10mm rear & 12mm front spacers, no problem so far.
I'm afraid u have shredded holes on ur hub causing ur lugs to get loose. Never tighten the lugs with a wrench at first, u should always turn them by hand freely before using the wrench.

and how can i fix that ?? :S .. the stock bolts are back on with no problems whatsoever, the bolt did look different than the stock one though, very different, my stock ones look almost conical while the new ones were definitely ball seat .. the car looked awesome with them on but the whole ordeal put me off of the idea, i guess ALL mods will eventually break down

OEM multispokes should have ball seated lugs, not cone seated.. So I'm not sure why ur OEM lugs look conical? Maybe u got the "cone" & "ball" seated concept wrong.. Regardless, both ur OEM & extended lugs should look the same, just 1 longer than the other.
Edit: u can post pics of both lugs side by side, we can tell u if u got the right lugs. Using the wrong lugs heads can definitely make them loose.

First, u got spacers that are not hubcentric.. That might be 1 of the cause of ur vibrations. And second, I believe there are 2 types of ball seated lugs. Hope someone can chime in on this as I don't remember where I read it.

If you use spacers get the best lug bolts, not the cheap Asian crap sold on ebay. Try the RAD website and read up on why. IIRC they have 37mm R14 ball seat. You need R14. Regular C's take R13's, perhaps that's your problem.

The spacers you have are hub centric themselves but have a flat wheel hub mounting surface and therefore will not be hub centric for your wheels to center on.
You need spacers with a lip for the wheel to center on like these.

Also ask ezaccessories if your lug bolts are Ball Seat Radius R14. The length of the bolts you have should be fine with 10mm spacers. Make sure you do not hear any ticking sound as that means the bolts are too long on the rear and are interfering with the emergency brake mechanism in the rear rotor hat.
I also agree with getting better quality lug bolts from RADUSA. That is what I have. Remember you need R14 lug bolts. http://www.radusadirect.com/category...l_seat.m14x15/
The biggest problem is what torque spec are you using when tightening the lug bolts? Are you tightening the lug bolts with a torque wrench? If not then you must tighten them with a torque wrench to 96 lb-ft. Tighten the lug bolts very snug when the car is raised, as tight as you can by hand with a ratchet. Then torque them to spec once lowered back on the ground. By sure to use the correct tightening sequence as well!

GL - You can do it!

Return them and get some that fit exactly for your application. No way would I use something like that but that's just me...would you run your car with only four lug bolts? You'd be doing something close to that IMO by using them.

Good point, but I searched all over the net & couldn't find the exact match as OEM locks in 40mm.. Can someone help me find a set if it even exist.
This set was only 22$ so not a big loss. But if I can't find the right locks, I might give these a try as I prefer to have my oem 19's locked .. Better than nothing, unless they start vibrating & getting lose?

Thx a lot bhamg, I got 12mm spacers in the front so 36mm is way too short.. 40mm all around would be ideal. No big deal.
