Quick question

After its been raining and I park the car wet (2012 c63 amg sedan) and it sits for 4 or 5 hours, when I go to use it next and take it out of park into either reverse or drive it feels like the tires stick or the brakes. It makes a clunk then releases and then it is ok. It only happens if it has been sitting for a few hours. Any ideas?

Normal. you'll see oxidization on the rotors after car washes and rain. Just sticks

Mine does that too (2012 C63C, with the PP), dunno if it's the PP (ie composite brakes), but its obviously the pads sticking to the rotors (my bikes do it too)

I have the same thing happening with mine. Probably just the pads clearing away the oxidation.

Thanks everyone!! I've only had the car for 3 weeks and I was a little concerned. It has never happened on any other vehicle I've owned.

My 2010 does the exact same thing. You almost have to give it gas to break them free.

Don't our cars also feather the brakes when it's wet to dry the rotors?

I have the same thing happen. Even when I drive in the rain and then park in the garage, the next morning you'll hear a thump of a sort when I shift to drive.

As far as feathering the breaks to dry them when wet, I'm not sure. You'd almost think that would cause additional un-needed wear on the breaks/rotors but I understand why it would be ideal.

I can't remember where I read it, but I thought I read that the was a sensor that detected moisture and feathered the brakes until it was dry so that in an emergency, the whole braking system was optimized.

I also get a clunk but it comes when i am reversing out of my garage. Any idea what this could be? Its definitely different than the sticky brakes or tires you guys are talking about because it always happens when i am almost out of the garage.

I get the same but after a car wash. The last two times I washed the AMG after dark, the next morning the passenger side brake sticks to the rotor. Couple weeks ago I drove about 4 blocks with a dragging wheel until I hit pavement and it broke free.

Not much of a first post but wanted to contribute somehow. Picked up much info from this site and its posters already, many thanks to all.

I take a rubber mallot to my wheels and calipers every morning before rolling the car out...it works wonders...
