Different tire brand front and rear.
Hi! I am a proud new owner of the C63 2010,
It came with 2 front tire 235/40R18 for front and no rear tire. The front tire show minimal wear, I fell they can last for another while.
Here the simple question:
I want to put PSS Rear 265/35R18, is the fact I have Pzero on the front going to have "major" impact on car handling? I plan on replacing the front for PSS 245/40R18, but if I would rather use the remaining tires before switching.
Also after reading a lot of thread around here, I was thinking about 2 mods to do to the cars. I don't really want to drag race, my objective is "occasionnal" track days, and to have some fun. I also drive this car in the winter at -30 celcius with about 3 meters of show per year (average). I consider myself a "spirited driver", I've own track bike for 10 years and I am now switching into a different lifestyle!
First mod:
Weistec Oil catch can, I believe a clean engine is always better!
Second:
Quaife LSD, there is a lot of power and I believe it can help this power reach the floor instead of burning rubber!
Any tought?
Thanks a lot!!
PS: This car is totally awesome! I heard it once and I knew I had to take it home!!
Nface!

congrats and welcome! for normal street driving, you won't notice the difference in tires, and unless you are seriously on the limits, you probably won't notice the difference at the track either. i wouldn't worry about it.

I just upgraded my rear tires to PSS and have Conti Sport 3's in the front. PSS tires are great, I personally don't notice a different as far as feel with two different tires. I do plan to change the fronts to PSS to match the rears once they are worn but they have a lot of meat left. Obviously the rears wear a lot faster than the fronts. I think it is more of a visual issue that the tires look different as far as tread and sidewall.
I am sure others will chime in.

Front and back no problem. The best thing you need is a good set on the rear. As long as you have an OK set and not a Chinese or Indonesian made tire on the front you will be fine.
So far I've never had the same brand on the front as the back.

I'm surprised to hear owners of a High-Performance AMG Sedan would run mismatched tires. I know my car isn't an AMG but this should have even more impact on your performance.
I had the OEM Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 Touring tires and upgraded the rears to Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus Ultra High-Performance All Season. I encountered major understeer to the point of being dangerous for my wife to drive the car. The traction rating was so much higher on the Sport AS Plus the car would plow into deep corners. It scared the hell out of me on an offramp when I turned the wheel but the car went straight. The next day I switched the fronts to the Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus and never had another issue.

mis matched tires are fine buddy. As long as they're both good, you're fine. As long as you know how to drive and how they react, it's fine.
Don't be fooled by what these companies try and tell you or for the sake of wanting all four the same.
I've had 255 Contis on the rear, 275 Dunlops on the rear, 285 Nitto Invos on the rear and now 295 Michelin PS2s on the rear. Never had an issue and always different on the front.
I work in the wheel / tire business. As long as you're not putting Formula, Roadstone, Accelera or similar brands or cheap Dunlops / Nittos / Kumho etc, you're fine

If you're talking about daily driving and typical use - no problem. Now, if you have winters on the fronts and PSS on the rear...yeah, may be an issue. But having similar class tires but mismatched models...not a big deal. Many folks do this as the rears burn out after 5-8k but the fronts are good for 15k+. So the first swap, rears go to PSS...then when that set burns out, swap all 4 for PSS or Conti5's or whatever.
Long story short - for regular driving, no big deal.
