My 09 vs Rental 12

My 09 vs Rental 12
So I own a 09 C63 w LSD and P30 package and while staying in Las Vegas I rented a 2012 C63 which I assume is all stock.
Ive noticed a few major differences and honestly, I prefer my 09 OVER the 12 by a longshot.
A few major things that Ive noticed about the 2012:
-feels more tame, detached, and kind of plasticky
-seems to have less of a growl and more polite noise
-tires spin out WAY more with far less power input(i assume this is because of the lack of LSD)
-paddle shifters feels more plasticky and less metallic, cold, and solid
-the transmission feels a bit smoother
-i can reach higher speeds at lower gears, meaning i can merge on the highway in 4th or 5th easily
-the brakes dont squeak most of the time like my 09 does
-sports + mode seems like a cool feature missing in my 09
-Race start seems cool too but Ive yet to use it
In summary, I was thinking of upgrading to a newer model but after driving this I really prefer the beefiness and the more raw feel of my 09.

The '12 being non-PP attributed a lot to your review IMHO. I drove a '10 with PP with LSD and also drove a non-PP '12 and the new MCT tranny really won me over, even though I much prefer the pre-12's exterior and interior.

Ditto. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I've owned both and the 2012 is better in every way possible. Some of the things you refer to (shifter feels plasticky?) I think your mind is playing tricks on you. The MCT isn't just a bit smoother, it's completely better.

i have a 2013 and the brakes squeak lol....only occurs when coming to a slow stop towards teh end. got the pads changed after a month into ownership and that solved the problem for a short while. it is happening again, so I may have to get the rotors changed? really annoying...

hehe, try some ceramic pads. less dust and noise but more stopping distance as well....

to completely honest, I am a pretty aggressive driver under the right circumstances, but this brake squeaking was def a bit weird. they squeaked from the day I picked up the car and the service dept told me the same thing about the performance breaks and it wou9ld go away after beating em up a bit...I tried that and it didn't help...it was to the point where unles I slammed the breaks at a stop, they would go through like 3 phases of sqeaking, all different tones and really really loud. the svc dept agree something was up and changed the pads...now it started again, albeit not as amplified and only a small squeak at the end. I know it is not the end of the world, I am just a bit concerned there is a faulty component in the braking system somewhere.
