Loosing Coolant Like Crazy

If you drive more than 15k miles/year, I might pass. With all of the random issues I've heard of and the glitches I have had, I would get it anyway. It would just help me sleep better at night. I'd say shop around and research feedback to see where you could get the most value for the cost. A factory warranty might make any claims easier than a 3rd party. $4k sounds high for a 3rd party warranty.

I had a coolant problem as well before knocks and ticks started coming from the engine. MB just added coolant and then I never got another coolant issue but the noise from the engine keeps re-appearing so not sure if it's the same problem but definitely good you caught it in time. If you go for the warranty negotiate on the "factory" warranty you may need it if you plan to keep the car for longer when something happens but ask them to see what's covered under the warranty before agreeing to buying it.

Well they fixed the head bolt problem replacing the lifters, bolts and everything else that is part of the repair bulletin. I have a 2 page list of cryptic part numbers and names that went into it. Runs great now!
For now I am going to pass on the extended warranty as the most expensive problem has already been taken care of.
I also just replaced my rear 255 tires with the Michelin PSS 275's and its like a whole new car. Where first gear was just an ESP flashing tire skipper before now it sticks like mad and pulls like a freight train.
