Front tires damaged - continental, pix inside!

Hi,

i just check my tires since i was having vibration and guess what I found after driving only 12,427 miles which is 20,000 kilometers !!!

i was wondering if other C63 owners with continental tires 18' had similar problem! and is it normal to get damaged by only driving 20,000 km???!! or is it just continental bad quality! the same thing happens for BOTH front tires, back tires no issue!

the tires are 5 months old! is it covered under warranty?

and whats the best tires to replace for summer?

LOL You might have the record for longest lasting contis!!! Mine lasted 7500kms hahahaha

Replace them with Michelin PSS ... better grip, better handling and they last at least twice as long

12000 miles is a long time, but looks like the belts are damaged. Did you hit potholes?

That's damage from hitting a pot hole.

I wouldn't doubt that your rims are bent too.

Yeah I hit a big pothole in my previous ML550 and it bulged out the sidewall like that. Never noticed any difference while driving, but I did notice it when I cleaned the car later that day. I had to have it replaced. It wasn't covered under the manufacturer's tire warranty but it was covered under the dealer's tire warranty that I had no clue I had.

And 20k km out of the original conti's is pretty impressive. I'm having my rears replaced now and they only have 8k kms on them.

Definitely a pothole damage by looking at the bulge in the sidewalls. I highly doubt u will get any sort of warranty after 20k km & with lil thread left.

Steel Grey Metallic C63!!
Continental tires have softer sidewalls compared to other Michelins. They aren't bad tires, but you can't drive low profile tires through potholes like they don't exist.

That potholes for sure.
I have 2 stock conti tires with less than 4000 miles if you need. I updated to PSS.

thanks every one for the feedback provided. but I don't remember hitting potholes both front tires have same issue but rear tires are fine.

I called Michelin asking if they have stock. he replied that PSS is not available for 18' wheels! he recommended Michelin PS3 but they are out of stock and the earliest delivery will be after a month!!!!! i called pirelli and they told me the same the stock will be available after amonth!!

I am thinking of replacing them with bridgestone or dunlop tires as i was advised not to drive the car till i replace the tires and i can't keep the car for whole month idle!

please let me know what you think.
