Been driving the car with the snorkels off and there has been a bit of hesitation in the higher gears... We thought it was because the snorkels were off, so I got them back on now and a AFR monitor and the car has some lean surges... Hopefully it's something minor.

At this point I am not sure what it could be... Waiting on a reply from Weistec to see what they say. Kind of pissed off at myself for not putting an AFR monitor on it right away... And of course I have been bagging on it..

My friends ODB scanner monitors fuel pressure. I'm going too see if it's dropping down much tomorrow.

Looks like you did a fantastic Job!

In regards to your hesitation, you may want to try a few gallons of MS109 or equivalent Race Fuel to rule out the hesitation. Although I am still N/A, I do have a tune in my car and every now and then I will experience the hesitation and have narrowed it down to sub par fuel. It feels like it's sensing a little knock and pulling some timing out. Good Luck!

How much boost are you pushing? You may be running into a belt slip problem, how much tension do you have?

If you have the hood off, you can mount a go pro somewhere and face it to the belt tensioner to keep an eye on that. Also a boost gauge will help determine slippage issues too.

I run my belt tight, it seems to work better and have less slip than a loser (longer) belt (in my cars case, the belt tries walking off the pulley, I shredded two longer belts and then I went to a tighter one that only walks one rib and stops), on my GTO, most people run a 1/2" longer belt than I am using.

Either way, I hope that you get it figured out and fixed fast, it sucks and it's a weight on your shoulders until you figure it out and correct it, I always have my reserves when I know I'm going to be driving it hard.

I would look into the maf's and the air filters. In my experience before my blower install I would get some hesitation if the filters weren't oiled and installed properly. But that is assumning you are running k&n filters.

The problem is I'm going dangerously lean 17:1 and ECU pulls timing, it's almost like hitting a mini rev limiter. I hope the ECU can pull enough timing to protect the engine and I havent caused any damage. I'm sending an oil sample in and pulling the plugs today. The car runs fine in closed loop, and even if you push on it a bit. But get into 3rd or more and go WOT, it will hit 11.9 instantly and be fine for a second or two the start leaning out bad.

I don't think it's a belt slip problem or it would go rich from the lack of air?

My tune is for 91 and I'm running 94.

Merc,

What is used to increase fuel during boost? Boostapump, boost sensing pressure regulator, 2 or 3 bar map sensor and associated tune,.....?

when I stomp on mine full throttle, the afr would immediately hit 10.0 but, if I rolled into it quick rather than stomp on it, it would not hit 10.0 instantly.

Are you rolling into it or just stomping to the floor?

My 05 Pontiac GTO, stock bottom end LS2 with a TVS 1900 blower currently running 9 lbs of boost, with a custom grind reverse split cam at 241/239 625 lift on a 114 LSA. My fastest strip run was 11.36 w/ TVS only, no cam.

Currently Dyno's at 560/530 whp/wtq

This video was taken after the TVS was installed with a 2.6 upper pulley pulling 11 lbs of boost.

As far as my C, its stock right now, I have ordered ARH headers and will make a custom straight or X pipe and will have Eurocharge do the tune once the exhaust is done.

I don't plan to go FI..

Sweet man. There is a GTO here that is touching the 10s.

Well I think my tranny had just about enough of me beating on it. It slipped bad going into third gear. I thought it would last till next winter, but with 63,000km on it already, it only lasted 5 days lol. We think the hesitation issue was caused by the tranny slipping, so the ECU would cut fuel/power to protect the tranny.

I guess the car will go back on jack stands and I'll pull the tranny now.

Do you have a spare tranny from your parts car?

Merc, since the cam went in, we believe the GTO is around a 10.9X car now for sure, especially on a new set of radials.

Glad to here it's the tranny, that should be a cheaper repair/replacement than the engine would be. Sounds like my GTO, after putting the blower on it only lasted a couple thousand miles and then it finally let the demons out, too much power for the stock tranny. I did have it built to a stage 2 with a billet triple disc 3200 stall converter from Circle D, granted, the domestic stuff is waaay cheaper, I only spent $2600 for all of the tranny work, and that included Circle D towing from and back to my shop, doing all of the labor to remove, install and tune the TCM. I'd say I got a good deal and now owning a MB, that seems to be chump change in comparison.

I don't know that much about these cars yet but, having a stall converter, again, gives you a whole new car feel, it will definitely make it more exciting if you're doing some drag racing, roll racing, not so much though but you may have the launch control in your car already which will essentially do the same thing I suppose.

I wish you good luck with the whole deal, when you get it done, go out and smoke some vettes, those guys think they have the fastest cars on the road (I know cus I had one) that's there mentality until they get beat up by a big ole heavy GTO.

I'm going to fab up a 3" stainless exhaust to connect to the MHP 3" mids. The stock exhaust has some pretty restrictive sections. I think I'm going to try some different 3" mufflers too. That way I don't have to hack up my stock exhaust.

If anyone knows a high flow/performance 3 inch muffler, let me know.

So what was the problem with that?. did you figure out why your fuel went too lean?

Borla XR1

A couple of Caddy owners use them but they're not for the faint of heart.

Torque reduction from the tranny slipping.

Talked to Weistec and they pushed 800rwhp through the stock res back exhaust, so I'm going to save my money and get some new tires and probably the ice box.

Tranny is back in the car and its running perfect.

its pulls like a complete animal and you better be awake if esp is off cause she will go sideways really quick.

the lean issue/hesitation actually turned out to be the tranny slipping amd causing the ecu to cut power to save the tranny.

im hitting up the track this coming friday night. Ill post some vids and results.

I want to thank Steve @ Weistec for all the support and hard work they put into these blowers.
