normal tire thread wear? what to do
so the inner part/portion of the rear tires are (nearly) gone.. trying to choose between michelin pss or pirelli pzero nero but wanting to know if there's anything i can do to atleast get a better tire wear (not too much concentrated on the inner part) if that's even possible (?) with this car?
car is lowered (h&r coilovers) if that matters.. tires mounted and balanced as per carfax on 04/2012 (20k miles).. now its at 27k miles (these are hankooks v12)

I have had Nitto Invo's, Contisports contact 3's, and Pilot Supersports just to name a few.
The BEST TIRE OUT THERE HANDS DOWN for the $ is the pilot super sports.
Also set the toe at a less aggressive setting 23-28
Here's a pics and I'm lowered on coilovers
My tire wear in the Conti's contact 3's ( which by the way are crap and loud and don't stick no where near as good as the pilots )
As you see less toe is the way to go. And on a side note I was beating on these tires every time I could to get rid of them as soon as possible to drop a set of pilots. I keep my tire PSI all around at 40 cold btw

thanks all.. so is it something that the tire shop can do? or do i have to buy/install something in the car to set this "less toe"? or what do i tell the shop?
also, is the 23-28 setting ok for the tire size 275/35/18? hopefully will not rub (i'm using stock wheels)..

I'm not an expert and I could be wrong, but I think by lowering your car, you may have negative affected the camber of the rear wheels, and you need to adjust the suspension back to a neutral camber.
But like I said I could be wrong.

neg camber may exacerbate inner tire wear but as others have mentioned dialing the toe-out can mitigate that since it is set pretty far from the factory (kind of like walking pigeon-toed except your shoes are the tires dragging along the road)
mikegpro, i'd be interested to know how much your tire life has improved after resetting your toe. also any effects on handling?

There is no rear chamber adjustment.
The rear toe hugely accelerates rear tire wear. If you check the rear toe settings for a c63 they are almost double a lot of similar cars.
Removing rewrote down half or even slightly more than half will stop your tires from continuously scrubbing everywhere and lengthen life.

Hey mgbrillo,
So I just put new rear Michelin PSS (275/35/18) on this weekend on my stock 18" rims. I've only had a limited chance to really test the new tires but here are the couple things I have noticed in the last few days.
First thing, the traction is WAY better, but that was to be expected.
The one negative, which I am still working on figuring out, is a loose feeling (floating) in the backend with these new tires. It is hard to explain. I don't know if it is because I put a wider tire on the stock 18" x 9" rims and they needed to squeeze the wider tire on the narrower rim so it gives some roll on the sidewalls or something. Before i felt like the tires were firm in the back and I never noticed a give from the tires. Now I really feel it, especially at higher speeds. I'm expecting that as the weather warms up it might get worse as the rubber softens on a hot day.
Has anyone else experienced this with putting 275s on stock rims?

275 will fit on stock rear wheels.
Also just incase... I found the cheapest place to get PSS was at my dealership. They just charged me tire rack price and no shipping since they get their shipments from tire rack. (Brought it up because i tried to go through normal shops and they wanted alot of money for the "special" tires)
Edit: just read you are lowered...maybe try 265? For pss 265 and 275 have about the same about of contact patch

I had my rear toe set to zero and have really noticed no difference in the handling of the car. I haven't had it on a track but during spirited road driving it feels the same as it did before. I can't comment on the tire wear yet since I made the change only a month ago but my hope is to get closer to 10k (first set melted away after 5.5k). I left everything else stock, just had the rear toe changed.

I noticed that while drifting the rear end in a corner, it wouldn't snap back as hard.
I liked it better.
C63 has a ton of rear toe compared to other cars. Take it down, try it out. If you don't like it have it increased. Your car won't fly off the road from reducing it
