2013 C 63 Engine Cover/Intake

Has anyone else had difficulty taking off the front engine cover to get to the air boxes on their 2013 sedan?

I know the connections on the engine cover were a little tight on the 2012's, but for the life of me I can't get any of them to lift on this 13...

Seems like they have modified the cooling system as there are a lot more hoses, different ductwork on the aux oil cooler, and what seems like a firm mounting point on the front of the engine cover onto the engine...

Any input would be appreciated.

CLK63 Black Series
A tech broke mine trying to get the front one off. best thing is to reach under and pull up near where the little metal clip is otherwise the plastic will break.

LOL I've tried for the life of me man and still no success...I literally almost broke my finger last night trying to pry the tabs out...

Oh well, will try again unless someone else has a different method to employ..

Can you confirm that they are all just the metal clips? or does it attach differently now?

Thanks!

Do it when the car is hot. Maybe eat some more spinach lol.

Here is a photo of the underside of what I think you are trying to remove.

I felt like I was going to break it the first time I removed it. I started with the front then slide my fingers under the left side and worked it until it popped out and then did the same on right side. One of the clips stayed in the slot on the air nox cover. I fixed the spikes on the metal clips so they wouldn't come off the cover again. I put Permatex anti sieze on each of the clip slots and it comes off easy now.

Finally got it this morning...don't know, maybe everything being cold helped...

This is my third C63 and the clips have never been as tight as they were...

Oh well, mission accomplished.

Now it's time for a little exhaust burble and pop!
