Spacers look killer with the multispokes!Originally Posted by Vise_
So finally ordered my winter tires today, after some back and forth I decided to go ahead with the original plan to put staggered winters on my 19" AMG multi-spokes. Had a hard time finding the right sizes for the rears so ended up going aggressive similar to Matt (olszowa12)... 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 for rears. I don't drive far for work anymore so wanted the focus to be on on dry handling/performance plus an aggressive look. We'll see how it goes, now debating some spacers too.

I was always told staggered setups in winter was a no-no...as the tracks from the narrow tires up front won't jive with the wider rear. I would assume, though, that wherever you ordered from the salesperson would have brought up that point?

Agreed, just need to figure out if they will work with a 275/30 rear winter tire... Originally Posted by Roswell

I've heard a non-staggered setup is usually recommended but I don't subscribe to that... I've been running staggered winter tire setups since 2006 on my BMWs with no issues. Considering it is dry or at worst light snow for 95% of the winter in Toronto I'll glady take the trade off for the very few times there is heavy snow.Originally Posted by coladin

+1 - have been running staggered winter setup for years on various cars. Also in Toronto. Originally Posted by Vise_

AFAIK it's not just the staggered vs. non-staggered setup but rather going with a narrower tire to maximize the weight on the contact patch. It's why people with Mustangs kept sand bags in their trunks in the winter.
Having said that, the fact that you have dedicated snow tires instead of "all-season" tires (they may be all-season in Florida but not here) already puts you ahead of 75% of the population so chances are you'll be fine. A 275 tire is not going to give you the best grip in the snow but as you said it should be fine for 95% of the time in the city.

If u go 275/30/19 winter tires, no spacers will fit w/o having rubbing issues.

ExploreI guess no spacers for me then... my winter tires showed up this morning, Vredestein Wintrak Extreme in 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 sizes. Either way the tires look great and I'm sure the AMG multi-spokes will look nice for a winter setup.

Seriously though, I live/work downtown and my commute these days is less than 5kms. Since I don't have to trek out to the suburbs anymore my winter setup is more about form over function. If there is deep snow or whatever I'll just work from home.

I'm also thinking about using my 19" oem wheels for my winter set-up and I also live in Toronto...
But I can't find any place that sales any winter tires in a staggered set-up for these wheels?
Any help here would be great!
Even the Mercedes dealership is telling me that there are no winter tires that will even fit the 19" wheels? Huh? Is this right?

You dont need to run staggered. You can do 235 square on stock wheels. The back will be a little stretched but not too bad.Originally Posted by peter.c77

Any independent tire or mechanic shop should be able to order whatever rubber you want. Mercedes is a different story as they want no responsibility if you slide off the road with the wide snow tires that they sold you and then turn around and claim that they sold you tires that were unsuitable for the vehicle.Originally Posted by peter.c77

If you are really struggling to find the tires that you want, call Steve at Tiremag in Concord. The place changed ownership a few years ago and now they seem to cater more to the "price-conscious crowd" than in the past, but he has always been able to get me whatever tires I wanted without difficulty.

Why? For looks or because you think they'll do something for traction in the snow?Originally Posted by tekky

Unless you want all show that the tires pick up "saltblasting" your fender lips, I'd give myself a little more room between the tire and fender than I do with my summers.

Or 245's - Bridgestone Blizzak 245 40 19 on all four corners. Approved rim width for those is 8"-9.5".Originally Posted by natman316

Vise lets see some pics man! When are you planning to mount it?
Not until it gets cold. Late November maybe?
Winter mode enabled!
So far quite happy with the setup, ride is great and still plenty of grip considering they are winter tires, haven't pushed it all that hard mind you. Bring on the snow... although not too soon since I just had it detailed yesterday.

Ive just had the call from my mobile tyre man to say my Vredestein Wintrac Extremes are in
So they are going on my 19" tomorrow 235/35 F & 265/30 R, with 12mm spacers already on
Aparently the Vreds are a little wider, and I'm going up one size it might be very close on those rears

Where did you get your grill bud ?
Like that with the black surround and single silver section and badge

Thanks man... let me know how your tires fit with the spacers. I wanted to go 265/30 in the rear but they were unavailable in Canada, ended up with the 275/30 and it is a pretty tight fit. I don't think even 10mm spacers would fit. The offsets are a bit weak but I think this will work for the winter.
Also the grille came on the car, just added some gloss black vinyl to replicate the 507 front end. If you have a good tint place they should be able to do it no problems.
