So today I dipped the trim piece along the truck. Here is an in process picture

I have since removed the majority of that and just have a few touch up spots. It came out great though. Now I am deciding what to do with the badges. I think for now I am going to leave them alone. I'm also debating on either dipping everything, dipping just the c63 and amg, removing the c63 and amg, or removing everything. Decisions decisions.

For the badges its better to take them off and spray them with "trim paint" instead of the plasti-dip or you can buy a new set and paint them instead of cutting small pieces of double adhesive tape.

For badges I was just planning on taping around the badge in a rectangle and spraying everything with plasti dip including the car. Because the badge sits above the paint on the car you can just peel the dip off the car and it will separate itself from the badges. Know what I mean?

I removed the trim piece from the trunk to plastidip mine. You need to access it by removing the trunk liner and then 2 bolts and 2 clips. Much easier and cleaner job
For the badges and emblems use painter's tape and some masking sheets and you should be OK.

AHA! Thanks for that. I do have one little trouble spot on the trim so tomorrow I'll dig around a bit and potentially redo it with that piece off. I don't like pulling out liners because I always fear they will never go back the same. Luckily dip just peels right off

Here are all the pictures I have of the tails.. Some may be repeats...

Let me know if you are interested in some other type of view and I can do it but I'm thinking those should do the trick

Previous owner must have. I just love that they came like this. I did something similar on my subaru though, not too hard. Can of nightshade and a clear coat and just go lighter towards the middle. Or just spray along a straight line while the can moves away from the light

excellent thread, and congrats on the C63. Too bad about the STi, yours looked damn good.

I read in another thread that your 135i has bolt-ons and E85, how does that compare with your C63? Is your 135 a manual? Sorry if this is off topic.

^ No worries. I have to drive automatics because my hip is toast from when I got hurt overseas. That being said, I'm kind of happy and love the paddle shifters.

Keep this in mind as well: C63 is stock and the 135 has the mods in my signature.

135 is hands down quicker/faster whatever you want to say. It is the auto with paddle shifters and the shifts are so much faster than the c63. Maybe with a tune on the C this might become closer as a tune will give crisper shifts and a bit more pep in my step. However, after about 4-5 races (if they were head to head) on a warm day the C would then become quicker because the 135 does have quite a bit of heat soak. Working on getting a fmic for it though to hopefully combat that.

Also, the sportiness feel of the 135 is much better. The steering is stiffer and you just feel the road. The C is more of a luxury feel.

However, onto the C and where it shines. The sound. I've mentioned it many times but it just isn't even a comparison. The C also does roll as much through the turns and speaking of turns many many many more heads turn driving the C63 than the 1. The 1 is basically my little sleeper.

Any other specific questions I'd be happy to answer. I wont say which car I like more because it isn't possible.. Two completely different machines.

Thank you for the detailed reply, and thank you for your service!

It looks like I won't regret getting a 335i (need a bigger car than the 1er) as a DD then

The c63's exhaust note...IMHO nothing comes close. It's definitely the best feature about the car for me.
