Purple's Journey

Hello all. Some of you may have seen me lurking out and about for a few weeks now. I held off on making a thread until now, for good reason.. I finally got my c63. Unfortunately, today was kind of a lousy day outside so it isn't all cleaned up nicely anymore seeing as driving it off the lot ended my hopes and dreams of good shots. I had a plan to get the camera fired up but that will wait until the weekend, in the mean time I have cell phone shots.

Anyways, the reason for the thread title is I plan to keep this one kind of rolling as time goes on rather than add more threads to the board down the road. I'm also somewhat of a "do-it-yourselfer" so I plan to make an attempt at putting together some DIY's with keywords. We all know there is a search button and we all know how many topics end up coming up when you put something in. Therefore, I intend to do things such as "How to Plasti-Dip" and that will hopefully pull this thread up.

With that out of the way, a small bit on myself and past cars (to build the suspense of course). I served in the Marine Corps from 2009-2012 before moving back to New York to go back to school. La dee Da.

Cars:
2002 Audi TT (Highschool and longggg gone)
2008 Subaru Sti (Built, Blown, Sold)
2009 BMW 135 (Current)
2009 Merc C63 (Current)

And thus I give to you the start of a hopefully long and enjoyable journey.

*****BAD CELL PHONE PICS***** Ha, can't stress that enough, consider them teasers.

Gone but not forgotten built Sti:

Laid to rest:

My Current 1 series enjoying a fresh wash and tile floor:

The C63 at pick-up

Andddd the C63 20 minutes later... Blurry.

And the side. When I take real shot's I'll be sure to get good ones of the relationship between wheel/tire/fender.

I'll get this out of the way as well..

Wheel and Tires Specs:
Brand/Type: ADV10
Front: 19x9 +40 Michelin PSS 245/35
Rear: 19x10.5 +52 Michelin PSS 275/30

Lowered, no rubbing. Fitment is exceptional.

Stay tuned!

I was at no 576 haha. On my first turbo it was 408/381awhp but the second turbo (gtx3582) + e85 would've been over 500/500. The first turbo (AMR t60) was on the stock motor which blew and the gtx was part of the new motor. Problem with new motor was pistons 1&3 never set causing another failure. Had to part ways before I went crazy.

Yes yes. C'mon now, I got the ADV's on in 30 minutes give me a break on the grill! Truth be told, I was going to plasti-dip it yesterday as well, however, with the weather being less than perfect and the fact I was driving the car a good bit around I didn't want it to cause imperfections. Long story short, nice weekend day = car being dipped.

Tell me about it. I actually have a GoPro laying around that I have never used so I might give that a shot.

^ I do actually. Going to have them rebalanced and see if that'll help. It isn't terrible though

I have the same problem, I have them balanced twice but its still there, it happens after i reach 85mph....its not terrible but certainly its there. I will try to ask the dealer to do it instead for the last time on Monday and see how it ends up..it the vibration still occurs, I think ADV might have to take up the response..

I think so too...As Natman had the same problem.....Hopefully could minimize the vibration or they could get it fixed or replace wif a set of 1 piece wheel...

I bought mine through a private party so I would not have that luxury. For me, the vibration isn't bad, yeah sure it is kind of annoying but then I just get out of the car and look and all is well.

I love this car.

Dome, grille should go back on today. I'm trying to decide on a couple things and the pain in the *** factor... The oem grille is gloss black with the silver trim. I'm a couple ways to keep that gloss black and do matte black trim without taking the trim out. Taking out the trim is a huge *****. Results incoming soon

Yeah its kinda annoying esp during high speed driving....Btw as I remember u r running 10.5 at back with 275, does it rub, and are you gonna lower that beast?
I think for a black C63 should deserve murder out esp when u hv black wheels, for the grill just paint it gloss black or get the carbon fiber grill from revozport and I think u could just wrap the trim...it would be too much work to take them off man...

Congrats on the car and the 20mins later mods!
Are you lowered on H&R springs?
By the way what can be the cause for the vibration at high speed?

I don't feel like buying a grille when mine is perfectly fine. Let me do it, undo it, and do it again until I get it just right and you'll see what I mean.

Wheels -- 10.5 w/ 52 offset. 275 PSS tires. Lowered. No Rub. I'll take more fitment pictures in a bit.

The car came clearly lowered, and I am not positive on what. However, H&R springs seem to be the popular route and it is clearly lowered, so that would be my guess it is on H&R's.

Vibration is likely caused by an improper balance. I did not balance these, they came with weights on them so I was like eh what the hell might as well try. I am balancing them on Monday, so, check back then for answers.

So, here are some pictures cleaned up some. Just out in the driveway quick. I mostly went out to snap some of the wheel fitment but I took a few more anyway

Completely unrelated real quick - went back to the dealer today (brother wants an e55) and showed them the rock chips on the hood and the guy told me they'd pay half the cost to have it repainted or throw me a couple hundred bucks if I got a different hood such as CF. They didn't have to give me anything... I took the car... So this is awesome!

Anyways, pictures. Captions above each.

First up, Rear wheel fitments.

How it mates up with the fender:

The ride height:

And, proof of tire size:

On to the fronts, same ordering:

Height:

Size:

And finally, some whatever shots. In these you'll see version 1 of the painted grille, more wheels, and also the tail lights which fade from black to a raspberry red.

Again, just driveway shots:

Yeah yeah... It needs a lip! Please put a diffuser on that! Paint the badges/emblems/fog light housings! No worries gents, everyone starts somewhere
