Front fender alloy?
Anyone happen to know what alloy our front fenders are made out of? I guess they are non common steel because a magnet will not stick to them. I need to have a little welding done and it would be helpful if someone knew exactly what alloy we are dealing with.

Hey Zephyr thanks. My car is not here so I cannot try a magnet on it and will have to take the shops word for it. I did try a magnet on my wife's GLK and the fenders on it are definitely steel.

Mort, I believe the fenders are aluminum as well--in the thread above Dads says they're aluminum.
If anyone knows our car it's him!
Ask over at the PL, they'll know for sure!

Merc63 I will keep your fenders in mind if I get mine FUBAR.
The body shop is in touch with a guy that specializes in welding so I hope we will be good.
