GT500SS or 991 GT3 ?
Hi guys ,
I've owned the BS for a year now. I'm thinking about changing it.
I already have a SLS BS on order so I will not be loosing my AMG love.
So here is the deal. I'm looking for another car but I'm really torn apart between 2 REALLY different cars :
One side : my dream car , the new GT500 Super Snake .... A complete beast but manual gearbox
The other side : the perfect track car , the new 991 GT3. Small engine but amazing performance and auto gearbox
The car would be a semi daily so the auto gearbox is probably the best solution but I can't keep looking at the GT500.......
The GT3 is also really great looking but I think I'll miss the uber horsepower of the Black ....
On a side note , I can import the GT500 for almost half the price of a fully optioned GT3 .... And maybe take another car on the same time then...
What would you guys do ?

Looks like you're not in the US?
If I was in your shoes, I would choose GT-500 for only reason. The exclusivity.
Otherwise, the C63BS to GT500 is a BIG downgrade in ergonomics and interior.
911 GTR is where its at.

Why not a 911 turbo brand new one???
Honestly if I was you for a daily I would proberly choose the gt500 a bigger car with more room
Gt3 is a bit small for a daily but for a 911 turbo I could trade off the smallish car for all the power

As a former GT500 owner, I can say that it was an amazing car if you're looking for attention - it got looks everywhere I went.
It was also a much more raw experience, while still being a perfectly comfortable daily driver. You lose out on some of the luxuries from the Merc or the Porsche, but if you're looking for technology, I still think Microsoft Sync Navigation is one of the best headunits out there from any manufacturer.
The only place I found it lacking is in the rear suspension. They've done a lot to improve the behavior of the solid rear axle, and on a track it's not bad, but if you're driving hard on roads, it can get interesting. I wouldn't say dangerous ever, because the car is very well composed for the amount of power it puts out, but I'd say interesting.
I would say wait until the next gen with IRS and a more grown up package/design. But if you have to get one now, or love the current body style (which I do), then this generation is a blast of a car. Make sure you have very deep pockets for gas

Given your situation the main question is: will you track the car? I can't really see the idea of owning an SLS BS and a 991 GT3 as they both pretty much are made for the same thing. Hense the super snake should be kind of a no-brainer.

The front on the wide body GT is bad. There is a point where it is too wide and that is well past it. 285's in the front is sick though.
CF wheels - ha - 20k later...
On the other hand, the GT500 will highway pull like a beast for a DD but the 9k rpm on the GT3 would as well. Tough call, I'd say GT3 for the class but you already have a 997?
Get an aventador. haha

I'm kind of anti-GTR guy
I don't see the point of this car but I respect the track performances. Its too damn ugly to be considered as a car for me lol.
Regarding the cars :
- I'm not a track guy
- The SLS BS will likely never see the track. This is my garage queen and will only get out at supercars shows and girlfriend's weekends.. lol. Yes , I'm that kind of guy.
- The pricetag would be between 100 and 150k EUR ( I'm in France )
- I do 100km a day. 50 to go work , 50 to come back.
- I've owned automatic cars for the last 10 years but I'd love to enjoy a manual again. ( my first car was a Cooper S , hell that was fun !! )
GT3 :
+ Fast , reliable , sexy , amazing PDK , 9k RPM , interior
- enough power ? what about the RS coming ?
GT500SS :
+ Dream car , uber powered , sexy , ultra exclusive in France ( I think I would be the only one lol )
- interior , manual ( lots of traffic jam in Fr ) , no track with this
Hard .....
