Just happened on my 2012 p31. Was especially noticeable on cold start in a parking garage with windows down. Was a loud click click click click. Drove it for 5-10 mins and it got quieter. Opened up the engine and it was still ticking, but quieter. Should I remap my ECU tune to stock and go in for a service? I still have CPO left. Should I first check oil dipstick levels this afternoon?

just to add: car has been driven nearly every day since I got it 1000km ago. I drove It like a race car with many highway pulls and bounced off the limiter a few times. Best case scenario: oil levels are low?

Video after 10 mins of driving. Was noticeably louder upon cold start, coukd clearly hear it inside cabin and my gf commented on it "uh oh that doesn't sound good". After driving more, can't hear it from inside cabin but opening up the hood does reveal the clicking. Seems to be front left engine bay.

Sounds completely fine to me, no lifter, cam or adjuster noise. The injectors do make a slight ticking noise, nothing to worry about. Enjoy your new coupe!
If it's worrying you too much you could take off the valve covers and check for cam & lifter wear.

posted in a facebook MB group and they seemed to think it's normal too. Started car after work and to my relief i couldn't hear the sound from outside anymore! In the morning I was quite worried, but I guess this is normal!

I have a 2014 with 10,000 miles on it. Heard ticking for about 2 minutes during warmup just the other day. Sometimes on startup I hear valvetrain noise. I have reported this to the service department. I also have a whine up front...i dont think its normal.

C63 w204 engine ticking noise

Guys I live in UAE and I own c63 507 edition I had the engine ticking noise problem that disappeared when the car gets warm like 3 minutes after running. Even if sound dissapeared after 3 minutes it wasnt normal. I took it to Mercedes dealership here and after 10 days of investigating they confirmed that it was one of the valve tappet and they replaced all 8 under warranty and car is perfect. Hope this helps
Please note the noise usually comes up when I dont drive the car for 4 days or more but now it's all sorted and even if I dont drive it for 14 days no noise appears

Valve tappet

My tapping noise comes and goes. I noticed that if your engine has not warm up enough, it could trigger that tapping on the next start up.

The noise could be due to malfunction in one of the valves .. as the valves open and close it would adjust it position after few minutes hence the noise disappears. If car is under warranty ask them to replace the valve tappet. The labour cost is high as they need to open the cylinder cover in the engine
