Oh well done Keith! Its a manual though? Probably a better choice after renting one in Germany last month, everything was in excellent form, except for the gearbox. It was loud and not smooth during the gear changes, especially the downshifts.
Believe Audi's new R8 V10 will have a new upgraded gearbox. Anyhows, I'm sure you'll have a great time with the R8.. especially when its modded up by you!

Yea, I've had Audi's in the past and my wife drives the Q7 and loves it.
Since I'm going to be tracking the car I went with the GMG race exhaust(50# lighter than stock) and no cats. Light weight OZ wheels, CC brakes(another 50# loss), and will have it tuned. I absolutely love the manual! Should be ready to go soon. Its really fun to drive and seems relatively fast.
I'll update the thread as things progress even though its not a C63.

Congrats!! The R8 is a great car, slightly understated for an exotic but equally potent. PPI makes a mean looking rear lid with dual scoops that was made to lower operating temps for S/C and TT R8's but could be an equally useful mod for an N/A car that's tracked.

I never cared about the R8's until we got this one at the dealership and I took it for a drive

The automatic sucks in these cars under racing conditions. Read all the reviews from the earlier versions and it will even tell you thats the weak point. The egear in the Lambo is the same way. WAY TOO much lag between gear changes. The manual is only way to go in my opinion unless you can afford the 2014 which has a new automatic tranny.

In any case, the manual box is certainly more entertaining to drive - I dig the Oz wheels too!
As for PPI, that would be news to me - I haven't read anything about their demise, and they built an absurd R8 last year for skier Jon Olsson. Maybe contact PPI USA (http://www.ppides********/dealers)?

W204 C63 Coupe, W166 ML350 BlueTEC, 928GT, C5 Z06 & IS300 race cars, EQE 4Matic+ on order
It's a Lamborghini with German reliability but without the "exotic" servicing costs, and it handles like a wet dream (had an early 4.2 V8 at my disposal for a few months). Enjoy it!

The age-old question of manual gearbox vs. automated manual... I understand that those with more years of racing experience distrust SMG-style gearboxes and claim better lap times with manual boxes, but it's simply not true that a manual gearbox is faster. The fastest manual shifters can only match the slowest of modern SMG boxes (~250ms), and Audi/Lambo even decreased the shift-times beginning in 2009 to below 100ms. The standard complaint isn't that it's too slow but that it's too brutal. I agree that the pre-2009 Audi/Lambo gearbox feels a bit slow, but in reality it's still a fast shift that would take near-perfect reflexes on a manual box.
In any case, the manual box is certainly more entertaining to drive - I dig the Oz wheels too!

First I mean no disrespect concerning PPI. Thats just what I had heard. I will try to contact them this coming week.
Secondly, your comment about the shifts being brutal is a better description. The hesitation and extremely hard hit when it engages is a very hard hit. I would prefer the manual. Maybe I'll be able to afford the 2014 some day.

I might have to consider the 2014 R8 and throw some PPI goodies on it...

I considered the Superforgiatas in black; super light and they have a great look too. I ended up getting a deal on the Klassens I could not pass up or the Superforgiatas would be on the car. You will need spacers with them, they offsets are too conservative though.
I know that sprintbooster is not 100% loved here but with the Audi R8 - its a great bang for the buck- check some of the threads on R8 talk about it. I just put it on and for 275 dollars it really helps with the throttle and I run a tune too. The Benz throttle maps are easily adjustable with the tunes but I guess the R8 ones are not so much.

Great choice on both Keith. The GMG race is what I got back in April and its just beyond aural pleasure. You will be shocked at how great the sound is; your neighbors will hate you

I got the Superforgiatas for track purposes.
