I'm sorry but BMW doesn't even come close. If you judge a sound system only by its bass, then you're doing it wrong. In my opinion, C-class far exceeds 3 series or 5 series BMW, which I drive all the time.

I do have the 7 Logic HK system. My car has multi media and sound package.
But I guess maybe it's just me. I have people sit in my car and say the sound isn't crisp. When I drove in my brother BMW 550 M Sport the sound was phenomial. I guess I have to appreciate what I have...

BMW has high$ audio upgrade options. Make sure we're comparing apples to apples.
Lets all agree that the factory systems are not all that great and especially for the amount of money some upgrades are.

This system lacks clarity in the mids and highs. Nothing is going to change that. What ALWAYS helps an OE system like this is more and tighter bass. A basic amplified bass tube like Bazooka (which I use in the Z4M) or MTX (in the trunk of my C63) does wonders.

This HK system is very clear. I do music production and I often test things out in my car. The mids and highs are phenomenal. The sub in my C300 wasn't as loud...the one in the C63 pounds.
I'm comparing apples to apples with the BMWs. There's a 3 series and a 5 series in my family and I've listened to both many times. Both have the sound updates.
Either there's a variation...or this is a case of 'to each their own'.

I have no issues with the HK Logic 7 sound. I listen to what most people consider noise (Industrial bands like Klangstabil, Synapscape and such). These are heavy across the ranges from lows to highs. While I do get distortion at certain levels of volume, that is to be expected.
It is just the radio interface and features that absolutely suck ***

I think owners who experience sound quality issues with the HK Logic7 need to address this with their dealerships. My previous car had a car audio competition system consisting of an Alpine HU, REAL MB Quart QSD Components (Made in Germany- not China), JL Audio Subs, and MB Quart Q-Series Amplifiers. I am accustomed to accurate sound reproduction and although the MB OEM system could never be expected to compare- it does well for OEM. Even the base model Audio20 (Non-HK Logic7) in my old C300 sounded decent but lacked low-end which was helped by the addition of a simple Infinity BassLink.

I'm no expert in the matter. But I'd like to point out the source is very important. If I plug in my iPod and listen to music through that on my HK7 system, it sounds like utter crap.
I put all my files on an SD card and stick it in the PCMIA slot. Sounds much much better. Also, the files themselves need to be high quality.
Listen to a CD or get a high quality file play through the SD card. Don't use an iPod.
Just my 2cents.

I love it....bushburnin disappears for months from the forum, then just shows up with the most profane reply to a thread and just blows your mind with it....nice job. That last comment just sums it up...

It's a little light on some sub (under 40hz) or so and too bright (I have my treble @ -2), sounds great. +4 for bass works great for most material. Also turn that nasty Logic surround thing off. Just weakens and creates phase errors.

Well I had the HK audio in my BMW, and it was much better compared to the HK in my C63. Ok maybe not much better... But definitely better. Plus the interior didn't rattle when I turned up the volume!
