Thanks Khmer...they look great off the red. The border looks to be a much lighter grey than the pics. Would you recommend going clear or smoked for a black car?

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
You can buy LEDs, but you will need a diode or y splitter with old buib still on inside, you need this to fake out the code. I also have a E63 that is black with the smoked ones, looks great, clear looks cheap. For 50 bucks buy both thats what I did.
And see which one you like best.

Just a little help. Is there any place to buy these clear side markers that doesn't require a pay-pal account. I just want to buy one thing, not set up a whole account. Just wondering, since I doubt I would ever use it, other than for this one item. Seems weird that I can't find a store, give a credit card # and have them sent to me???

In Canada, by law, you must have an amber reflector and lamp. Clear reflectors will net you a ticket if the cops want to get picky (we have picky cops here). So the most legal way of doing it is to get the darkest tint. In my case, I went darkest tint + matte clear film to match the car.

This setup, looks black and matches the car in the day. Shine a flashlight on it, it'll reflect orange. At night with the lights on, it glows orange. Complies with the letter of the law. Only works on dark cars, looks like *** on white cars.

I heard different re Canadian law. I heard that it doesn't matter the colour of the housing, as long as it shines amber.
Your tinted reflectors look great. I have magnetite black paint. Do u think I should simply get film installed on the reflectors (darkest tint possible)??? My car is not matte.
Thanks

The relevant HTA sections are below:
Side marker lamps
(13) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one half-hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle or combination of vehicles having a length in excess of 6.1 metres shall carry not fewer than four lighted side marker lamps, one of which shall be located on each side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles near the front and shall display a green or amber light and one of which shall be located on each side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles near the rear and shall display a red light and each of which lights shall be visible for a distance of 150 metres from the side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles upon which it is located; provided that a vehicle or combination of vehicles may carry four reflectors approved by the Ministry instead of the side marker lamps required by this section; and provided further that, if the clearance lamps upon the left side of any vehicle or combination of vehicles display lights visible for a distance of 150 metres from the left side of the vehicle or combination of vehicles, it is not necessary to carry side marker lamps as required by this subsection on the left side of the vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (13).
And, this is what the HTA states regarding tint on the lights:
Attachment that affects lamps prohibited
(7) No person shall drive upon a highway a motor vehicle if either or both of the lamps that are required on the front of the vehicle by subsections (1), (2) and (3),
(a) are coated or covered with a coloured material; or
(b) have been modified by the attachment to the lamps or the motor vehicle of any device that reduces the effective area of the lenses or the intensity of the beam of the lamps. 2002, c. 18, Sched. P, s. 19 (1).
So, if I am reading this correctly, it appears that clear marker lenses are OK for as long as the bulbs glow amber, or alternatively amber reflectors only (no bulbs) are OK as well if the headlights (when illuminated) can be seen from the side. Tint on the marker lenses, however, is illegal because it is a coloured coating.

Ack, I should've been more specific and said Alberta and not Canada. We need both amber reflectors as well as amber lamps here. No law on coatings.
I've posted pretty much every pic of my car on here, I'd link it but I'm on my phone. Do a search.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I took some new pics today. Will post them later tonight.

Wow - three Magnetite cars... I thought I had the only one. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Rage - that makes sense re Ontario vs. Alberta law differences. Clear lenses on the front side markers are OK in Ontario if they glow amber when illuminated.
I went with clears on my Magnetite coupe, not necessarily because of the regulations but rather the clean look - the headlights and DRLs are all clear (w/ chrome accents) and I liked the uniform look better.

I got the smoked LED cheapo Ebay ones for $50. The LED's light up in kindof an upside down L shape and it looks awesome. You install from the top hood. One side is easy and the other side is a pain becuase its hard to get your hand in there. I have had no problems with these lights after 6 months.
