Steam carwash??
I am looking for a place to get my car cleaned on a weekly to biweekly basis, so something quick and mostly exterior and wipe on the interior.
I came across a steam cleaning place http://www.steammyride.ca/contact.asp and just wondering if any of you guys have tried something similar. I looked at their process and am concerned about using the microfiber cloth as they steam to dry and remove the dirt. A few people on the forum I saw them at really liked the cleaning, but it was mostly family cars such as minivans. Thinking if I should try it; maybe with the wife's car first.
Thanks,

Use steam to wash anything and you will destroy it fast. Steam is very hot and will peal paint, undo double sided tape, warp plastic, and undo molding.
Good luck. And if you decide to do it, get some age defying wax for your car...

Won't be trying it then. Maybe will get the wife's car to see the results out of curiosity but that too only once.
Thanks,

I will starting next year probably. Don't have too much time to clean myself. With my Actuarial exams and work, I only get limited time during the year; the weekends are mostly spent studying during the day and friends and family in the evenings. But hopefully that will end with me writing my last exam in the Fall.

FYI, steam will not destroy the paint, and for the most part, any other part of the car when used for short durations.
Steam is hot, yes, but it is significantly less dense in a gaseous form than when in a liquid form. This is why you can wave your hand through steam and not get burned, stationary hands.. those gets burned so don't do it.
As long as you keep the steam supply device in motion, the parts of your car will be fine.

I've had tons of good experience with steam. Less mess, no water streaks, perfect shine everytime. It does a much better job breaking down dirt then water and soap does. Never looked into if it was bad for the car or not didn't really think it would be, uh oh!

I was trying to be brief. What I should have said is that at 100'C when water turns to steam, both have similar energy potential, however 100'C water will burn you rather quickly as the molecules are densely packed. When it turns to steam (which with tap water is actually slightly higher than 100'C due to impurities in the water), the molecules are loosely packed and heavily dispersed, so you can wave your hand through it without burning yourself.. although holding it still, well that is skin dripping off the bones territory.

EDIT: Perhaps it may be useful if you've trying to take out wrinkles out of your canvas roof on your convertible. It works on my pants.

I saw this on Jay Lenos garage once...apparently he steams all of his cars..and he easily has 200+ of them..I can't see the steam being bad for the cars paint unless you hold it in one spot for way to long but I can see it being good @ getting all the grit and such up...Plus no streaks which is a pain in the *** usually
