Track days, AMGs where are you?
(1) MY 2013 didn't get the alleged reflash/update software.
(2) alleged reflash does not exist.
I am calling MBUSA/AMG on Monday to see what I can find out. Nonsense.
I'm still experimenting with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my SL55 (255/35ZR19 front, 295/30ZR19 rear) and have had good results at 40 psi front and 45 psi rear (295/30ZR19).
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I generally run around 38 to 42 cold on my street tires and 40ish rcomps. Got the new flash but could not try it out as I got euro charged which reset my tolerances. Barry has been very helpful and we are going to sort it out. Meanwhile, I generally hit limp at 138c. If you don't pull it past 7000 and are a bit decent on engine braking, the car usually runs OK on short tracks this way. On longer tracks with long straights the car is generally good, just needs a bit of care. I find I shift less in manual and can keep temps down esp. With tune.

I just stuck with 40 all around today and hit 46 hot give or take.
The amg was a monster on the track. I still haven't got the courage to go all out on it yet.
Get some white chalk and mark the tires radially from the sidewall to the thread in a few places on each tire. Usually you'll get the best traction at the lowest pressure at which you're not rolling on the sidewall.

I am seriously considering a E46 M3, Z06 or a 370Z for a track only car (keeping the C63 for the occasional track day and for street use).

The E46 M3 isn't bad, but it's heavy relative to the power from the 3.2L. The E90 is a better choice, but obviously pricier.
A Z06 is an excellent choice, as it's essentially arrive and drive as well. The Z06 is a ton of fun at a HP track like Mosport, but I'd bet the Cayman S is more fun at a shorter, tighter track like Cayuga (I'm surprised Cayuga is still open...I know they had tons of issues with noise a few years ago). So something like the Cayman may be a better compromise overall.
The 350Z / 370Z may be a decent choice....good handling, not terribly over-weight, and reasonable power. My biggest complaint about those is the thrashy engine....it's just not a smooth powerplant like the BMW I6, or almost any V8.
Had my C63 at Mosport earlier this year; the engine is phenomenal for the track, but the limp mode is a huge PITA. MB and AMG should really have engineered that better (which they did on the Black).
This is part of the reason why I'm looking to swap my C63 for a 997 Turbo. As much as I love my C63 as a daily driver, it's frustrating as a track toy compared to BMW, Porsche and the Vettes. While the 997TT isn't the best track-toy option from Porsche (as noted, a GT3 or Cayman S are better, pure "sports cars" than the 997TT), it's generally more reliable and better performing on the track vs the C63.
Doesn't sound anywhere near as good though. A GT3 at full song is pretty good....different, but pretty good. The C63 does sound wicked going around Mosport (for 3 laps, anyway!)

Stay away from the Cayman and Boxsters for track use. There are many a reported seized engine from Porsche owners on Rennlist due to oil starvation.
The guy tried his best to caught me, he told me later.
But on a short track he would have beat me.
