Tire Suggestions?

So next week I will be picking up my C63, and it has 50k miles on it, which means I will probably need new tires soon! I was wondering what tires you guys are running/how they look (size)/and your personal experiences with them!

I'm not technically on a budget, but nothing too crazy, please!

This and that.
Almost everyone here would recommend the Pilot Super Sports.

Ok I was planning on Michelin too, but are there any concerns with them/can they be used in winter (doesn't get too cold down here though so shouldn't be a problem).

They wear the best and you don't have to change them every 5000 miles or so like all the other tires.

They should be fine in winter if it doesn't get too cold. Obviously they aren't snow tires.

Yeah I don't plan on driving it under 45-50 degrees so I think I should be good!

Thanks for all your help on both threads by the way, and you sir, have an amazing collection of cars!

Not a problem. That's what the forums are for. I know I post all my questions here all the time, so nothing wrong with that.

And thanks for the compliment. Those are alright. As far as my ideal garage is concerned all I need is one car like the c63, a Lambo and a motorbike. Only thing missing is the Lambo now. lol.

Yes of course. Just validate the tread on the front ones. Many times I had different brands on front vs rear. The OEMs BTW, for me at least, are not as equal as the PSS.

And, I also recommend buying PSS as well. You will need to break them up the first 500 miles or so to unleash their potential.

How about the size of the tires, does everyone normally stay with the same size tire or has anyone gone wider, etc. on the stock rims... not even sure a stock rim will accommodate a wider tire?

People here used 265's on the rears with the 18" rim. PSS, however, are wider than most tires. I believe one guy here used even 275's, but had rubbing issues when carrying people on the back seat.

Yeah I think I'll be getting a set of PSS's after reading reviews and seeing that all of you guys have them too, thanks guys!

And papashango - I'm sure you'll get the lambo eventually haha, you can get an 04 gallardo for the price of a new C63 BS I bet!

PSS's are really expensive. I've stuck with some other high-performance brands that are better than stock or low-end "performance" tires.

Look into Toyo or Vredestein. Other considerations are Nitto, Falken, or Hankook. But hey, if the Michelins aren't eating at your wallet, go with them.

I just got Bridgestone S-04 PP. they were $750 from tirerack in 235/40 and 265/35. They seem really sticky, are supposed to be as good as the PSS except at the extreme limit but don't have the warranty. So far the ride is better than my conti 5ps, they seem more responsive and the tiny bit of slop I felt in the steering is gone. They are very quiet too. I haven't had them in the wet yet but they are supposed to be good there as well. Bang for the buck, I doubt there is a better tire. For the price of PSS, I got the S-04s mounted AND an alignment (running half the stock rear toe now).

Running 245/35-19 front and 275/30-19 rear Michelin PSS on custom offset 19" rims on mine. It's a Canadian car with the AMG sport suspension (P30 equivalent - 10mm lower than the non-P30 suspension but higher than aftermarket H&R springs). No rubbing whatsoever but the clearance between tire and strut & tire and fender is only a few millimeters. You can fit a 275/30-19 Michelin PSS on the rear without rubbing, but not on the OEM rims.

IMHO, quality- and grip-wise Toyo and Vredestein are in the same ballpark with the OEM Continentals or Yokohamas (I'd put Bridgestone in there as well - they may even be marginally better), but Nitto, Falken and Hankook are noticeably inferior both in terms of performance and longevity. Yes, you can get cheaper tires, but they don't grip and won't last (they'll get noisy or make your front end vibrate due to uneven wear). You get what you pay for.

Whatever tires you get, make sure they have the required XL load rating for the car, which is going to significantly narrow down your options.

EDIT: You may want to look into Dunlop as well. Had two sets on my Audi S4 and was quite happy with them.

My Vreds are pretty sticky. It's hard to break traction even in S. and they're fantastic in the wet.

Yeah I know that the PSS's are pretty expensive, but I don't want to run too cheap tires on my new ride, and also, I have heard that they will last longer than other tires (C63 tire eating), so I'll give them a shot. Maybe after these ones are gone I'll try a new set and then I can decide which I like best!
