c63 rear ended
Well, wife was stopped at a red light when a civic hit the car. From the looks of it, the bumper and maybe the diffuser will need to be changed. The bumper broke a bit, so definitely new one needed.
The guy offered to pay, but I told him we should go through insurance cause I don't think he realized that it can be expensive. Anyways, doing the reporting tomorrow and then taking to the dealership on Monday.
I usually always take the car myself on Friday, but being lazy in the morning, didn't move the cars. Aah well. Cant wait till I get the new bumper....

Yea most people have no idea how expensive parts are and the labor rate involved with taking off the damaged stuff and possibly discovering more damage underneath and then putting on the new parts.
Maybe replace with an aftermarket diffuser?

The adjuster is to call on Monday. Will ask if he would let me. Will be interested in the mode carbon rear diffuser if they agree

you should just be able to pay the difference in price. also, if you have a prefacelift, now would be a good time to get a facelift rear bumper, if you like the looks of it.

Has anyone filed for a diminished value claim in Canada?
I know it's just the bumper but I am sure its gonna affect the value of the car. I am with TD Meloche, and have the replacement endorsement that covers replacement value if the car were to be a writeoff. Any help will be appreciated.

i just had my rear bumper replaced and diffuser replaced... i have a 2010 and had a big fin cf diffuser... the original estimate was for oem parts... but they covered all my aftermarket parts with proof of purchase... and the body shop i worked with was cool and cooperated with me... as soon as the approval for all the repairs and supplements came through... i had the shop order me a facelifted rear bumper, and i ordered a new cf diffuser and had it sent to the shop... if the total is more, i pay the difference

Just called mercedes parts and they told me they have a carbon fiber OEM diffuser which is only $ 350. I can't find any picutres online so will go see what that's about.

It seems it's just the bumper and diffuser. The only thing I want them to examine closely are the exhaust tips. I see scuff marks and scratches on it and have been taking care of them, so I am gonna try to get them to replace them if they can't take them to the pre-collision condition.
Based on this damage, should I try and file a diminished value claim?

I don't believe it. I think the guy may have mistook for something else. Will find out on Tuesday
When I called, he asked me which one I wanted the price on as there was a normal one and one CF. I asked him if he was sure as I didn't know that they had CF. He said that they do and it came with the CF option, which I wasn't even aware of as I got performance package which includes the CF trim and spoiler but I have the normal diffuser and I haven't seen a CF one on any other performance package cars. So I am a little skeptical. Also, the price he gave me for the normal one was around 150 and the CF around 350, which seem too cheap. I thought that even the normal diffuser would be 400 bucks or so. Either way, we will find out on Tuesday!

Well, depending on the severity and how good of a body shop you have, it was a remote possibility that you could get a wide body kit for the price of a normal repair. You'd have to do the bumper and fenders though.
