Interesting car wash observation
So I took the GTR to the local car wash last Sunday at the opening. Got an off track wash with tire dressing. My usual. They literally spent about 50 minutes on the car. It was more like a detail, as I watched them go through multiple drying steps, etc. after a $5 tip, I was on my way to bring the C63.
I returned with the C, asked for exactly the same thing and under 20 minutes they were done, $5 tip and I went home. Upon further investigation, I noticed the the insides on the exhaust pipes were cleaned to as much as I can usually accomplish. I'm talking about the inside surface. On the C63, they hadn't even wiped the outer chrome; not even once. While disappointed, I concluded that gtr is a better car!

Lol ! This was entertaining
Well you can't miss the size of the tips on the GTR vs the C63. Matter of fact that is all you see!! So if you let them dirty it will look like the car hasn't been cleaned

some ppl in the service industry have ridiculous expectations. I once tipped 15% for horrible service (we actually complained abt the service after we got our food of course) and the waitress had the nerve to come out of the restaurant to ask our group if there was something wrong with the service because we tipped 15% lol

to be clear I wasn't insisting that the OP's $5 tip was cheap but more that the ppl at the car wash wasn't happy with the tip. lol

Now don't get me wrong, I tip typically 18-25% but I feel like the tip needs to be EARNED. There are times when the service was so bad I do not tip at all and sometimes when the service is so over the top that I have tipped as high as 30% (that's when the meal is absolutely perfect in every way, I was picky about things AND the waiter only smiled and fixed it, and then I even ask for something extra, in this case it was this absoltely amazing pretzel bread and the waiter gave me a whole basket full to go).
Anyway, just ranting that I feel tips should be earned not expected nor should it be an automatic addition, in other words it turns from a "tip" into a tax.

Oh dont even get me started on that. Especially when it's a phone in order where I literally pay and pickup my food. I understand that the cook had to make the food but that's part of the business. The tip is typically for the service not the actual food prep.

Easiest way to avoid is pay in cash. All the receipts print with that tip line at a restaurant. But who carries cash anymore..

I know you paid $25 for a wash, but they detailed it. So you paid $30 for something they would normally charge maybe around $100 for in that guys mind. He could have probably done 4 cars in that time frame and made more than $5 in tips or maybe not. That would be a quick way to not receive the same service. Regardless you didn't owe him anything maybe he was expecting more and had you tipped higher maybe they would have given you the same treatment. I know that's how it is when I tip a server well to places I frequent. We are just discussions the situation, not trying to talk negative about your tipping habits.
