Are you serious? You let the dealer wash your car? Neo, don't listen to him your car is Matte they gonna mess it up if they wash it with their shiny soap. Tell them explicitly not to wash it. Nothing worst than a dealer car wash with their dirty towels.

Yes, they do as good of a job as any other car wash place. No one does it better than the owner, of course, but Walnut Creek is not Miami.

Actually I don't let anyone wash my car. I'm OCD like that. Or at least I try not to on purpose.

I only let 2 establishments wash my car...the dealership (because I have an excellent relationship with several SA's and they know I don't BS around) and my body shop guy (because he's as OCD as I am and has basically repainted half of my car already).

This doesn't look like the steering column lock issue! I just had it replaced several months ago by my own pocket! It hurts!
But why does engine cut out after 15 sec? Would like to learn more about the root cause!

It's at Fremont MB. Great service advisor in Moe Firoz... hands down the best I've ever dealt with.

They called and said its the ignition module. It's gonna have to be replaced.

That sucks. It pisses me off that Mercedes doesn't admit there is a manufacturing defect in the steering column.

Now they need to order the new parts and a special DRT key to reprogram your keyless go.
My car was almost 2 weeks at the dealership

thats because your not near a key warehouse. Anyone in the dfw area can get a key/eis etc.... the same day if you order in the morning woowoo.

Sorry to revive such an old thread.. Just had the same issue myself. This really sucks, had to get the car towed from work on a flatbed.. My particular car has had the eis/steering lock replaced three times prior to this. I've done a lot of searching but don't see a fix other than have everything replaced. Mercedes Benz keeps replacing the parts with the same design and hasn't altered them at all to alleviate this problem.. It's ridiculous. Has anyone recently had this issue and had it fixed permanently?

Since new our keyless go would work and then not in any determinate pattern wouldn't work. You could drive it a while and next tiem it would work or maybe not.
Earlier this year it, finally wouldn't start at the dealers. they tried computer programming and so on.
Ordered two new keys and it has worked flawlessly ever since. However I keep opening the trunk with the key in my pocket. I need one of those covers.
I'll go by MB today and see if I can get one.

Couldn't agree more. I try to wash my car once every one or two weeks and with matte cars becoming more common people are starting to realize you can't wash them like any other car. I've actually had a few Frozen Grey BMW owners ask me to wash their cars too, haha.
