507 Edition with Chrome Delete

I just got the 507 back from getting a full "chrome delete" treatment, window tint, and smoked tail lights. The "chrome delete" consisted of wrapping the door handles and surrounds, chrome trim around the windows, chrome trim piece on truck, all badges, and wheel emblems in matte black.

Not my cup of tea, but looks well done.

What about the exhaust tips? Like the cars in this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...cial-507s.html

Would complete the look.

im3cpo 09-08-2013 05:48 AM

Tried to get that done but..........

I looked into doing the exhaust tips done as well, but bottom line is I couldn't get it done in the timeframe I needed it done by. Definitely something I will consider doing in the near future though!

Almost forgot to ask!

OH! Does anyone know of a good place to get clear side markers so I can get rid of the orange? I found a place on eBay but it looks shady... Any help would be appreciated!

Love the look , good job!! I wanna do chrome delete also, did they wrap all chrome while on the car or remove piece by piece to wrap?

I think the chrome delete looks best on silver for the contrast.

Here's mine:

Everything was kept on the car during the wrap process. The only semi-exception was the door handles. They were slid backwards a little bit so there would be no visible seem (the handles slide backwards after a bolt is removed).

Thanks!

Chrome delete is nice :y
How are your taillights at night? I'm finding the tint a little bit too dark but I might be wrong.

im3cpo 09-08-2013 05:10 PM

Yeah..

I agree with your contrast perspective. To me, having so much chrome on a car as dark as mine simply made no sense though so I needed to do something about it. Not sure I really had much of an option other than matte black; though I will admit my pictures do not do the car justice! It looks much better in person.

I have some professional pictures on the way that should do a better job. I will post those up as well when I get them in.

Looks great!!! I am awaiting my 507 and that has been the first thing on my mind. And definitely the first mod. All chrome off and a black grille.

You did a good thing and makes the car looks so much better and meaner. Takes some of the so-called "luxury" aspect out of it and makes a statement that it is indeed a sports car. I believe that they shopuld come from the factory like that.

My only issue are the smoked/blacked out tail-lights. It's your car and you did what you want. But I feel the car loses some of it's true pride with the tail-lights like that. Looks a little cheaper.

But again, your car. If you like it and it's your thing........more power to you and enjoy your car!!!! Be safe and proud.

I was a little apprehensive about getting the tail lights done at first as well. They do look rather dark in the pictures, but in person they look MUCH better (in my opinion of course).

Its really hard for me to capture in the photos, but they are not as dark as them appear in the photos. I know the professional photo shoot I had done included some shots at night, but I have not had a chance to see them yet. I will see if I can take some shots tonight and get them posted for you.

In all honesty, they still shine bright and are easy to see. The most noticeable difference is off angle where they are noticeably dimmer. Straight on, they are still REALLY bright.

Helms 09-08-2013 08:39 PM

very nice!

Enjoy!

looks great except for the tail lights, not my cup of tea, i would go with smoked front side markers instead of clear to match everything else

Here are some pictures at night with the tail lights on. Wife was already in bed so could not get a shot with the brake lights on...

fugawe54 09-09-2013 11:43 AM

Where was the work done?

Vise_ 09-09-2013 12:09 PM

Looks great, very nice car you have there. I have to agree with the others though, not a fan of tinted tailights in general so I personally would have passed on that.

Also just wondering why you went with matte black vs gloss black to match the rest of the car (ie. spoiler, hood vents, front grille/DRL surrounds)?

tomespo 09-09-2013 12:52 PM

Everything looks good except the tails. Cheapens the look of the car

im3cpo 09-09-2013 11:42 PM

Work done here

What'd you tint your taillights with?

im3cpo 09-10-2013 03:21 AM

Technically, its paint..

From what I understand, they are technically painted. The process entails placing the light assembly in a vacuum sealed chamber and spraying it with a liquid "smoke" (for lack of a better word) paint. There is no lip or film on the light, so they give the appearance of being like this from the factory. You can however remove the paint by using a high grit sandpaper; so it is reversible too!

Why do so many of us hate bright orange sidemarkers, but like bright red tail lights?

im3cpo- I'm in the minority here but I like your smoked tails.

With my c63 bs i had chrome pieces wraped matte and only the bright back up light portion dark window tinted instead of smoked

im3cpo 09-11-2013 03:39 AM

Thanks!

Glad you like the look! I have to admit the car is much more fun to drive now for some reason.... :) I have some smoked side markers on order; maybe I will get them to match the tail lights?

Thanks! I knew I was going to be offending some people out there by doing what I did but it is what it is... I also have to admit that the pictures do not do it justice. It looks MUCH better in person!

Thanks again for your support. :y

I dont mean to get off track but a question: i have seen some shots of the c63 507 that appear to have the large MB badge on the grill glassed over. the standard release is obviously hollow but it looks as though some are not and have the glassed over look? is this correct or just bad photo quality?

It depends on whether the car is fitted with distronic or not (drivers assist package). Distronic cars have the filled in logo. Its not only 507s, believe it applies to all models tht offer the option. I personally don't like the look, one of the reasons I didn't go for it (apart from the fact that I'm not really interested in any of the features).

wgtp23 09-13-2013 08:36 AM

how did i know you would know. cheers Bardman

Roswell 09-13-2013 10:50 AM

Love the chrome delete on dark color cars like urs, not so much on light color cars. The tails is a love or hate thing, so dont worry about it as long as you like them & they are safe at night. Good job!
