I would treck along as well. I have had very very very little success finding a good Dyno Shop in the BayArea. Anthony have you found a spot yet?

Incidentally, P31 is rated at 480HP and Edition 507 at 507HP. Hence i think it would be great to get them all on the same dyno and also see whether we could deduct some consistent drivetrain loss factor.
507 in 2013 your math is incorrect. To add back a 20% drivetrain loss to the RWHP you divide by 100% - 20%. So from the graph 434rwhp/(100-20) = 542.5 fwhp. This is the same as 434rwhp x 1.25 = 542.5 fwhp. The assumed drivetrain loss in this case is 20% and not 25% and the factor of 1.25 represents this loss added back. The reason for this is the loss is based on fwhp which is a larger number than rwhp and thus the proper way to add back is to divide the rwhp by 100% less the drivetrain loss percent (100% - 20%) or create a factor that accomplishes the same result (1.25).

Hi Mort,
I think I may have muddled the waters by talking about the loss and yet using the efficiency factor in calculations. My bad. I think we are actually in violent agreement. Your maths above is exactly the same where you divide rwhp of 434HP by 0.8 to arrive at the fwhp (efficiency factor). Whether I divide rwhp by 0.8 or multiply by 1.25 it's the same thing (0.8/1.0=1.25). I think where initial confusion may have slipped in is that there may have been an assumption where i would have multiplied rwhp by 1.2 to arrive at fwhp. Of course, that would be mathematically incorrect. The efficiency factor of 0.8 established by comparing the factory rated fwhp output to the rwhp dyno tested output would then be used to determine subsequent fwhp outputs, following the formula of FWHPx = RWHPx/efficiency factor. In reverse then, the loss factor would be (1/efficiency factor) - 1, in our case (1/0.8) - 1 = 0.25, and to arrive at the fwhp one would need to multiply rwhp by (1+loss factor).

HenryZhang, you have a 507 right?

Sweet, we just need a Black series now and a proper place to Dyno the cars in succession.

Alright, it sounds like we have the cars we need.

HenryZhang, shoot me a pm so we can coordinate.
Neoprufrok: I'll get a hold of you and see if we can set something up on a day when you're not on call.

We'll let the rest of you know when/where we're going to dyno if you're wanting to dyno your cars that day as well. But for now my main focus is making sure we can do the P31, 507, and BS.

Not yet. I was out of town most of last week, and wanted to wait till after. Though I have since installed the Agency Power catbacks, so we we'll probably still want a stock P31, as the catbacks will probably alter my dyno graph slightly.

Anthony, i can unload either my Brabus or my Other Tune on my P31, thats why we spoke about doing it. The 507 is in can you get the Black series guy in?
The shop we found will do 4 of us in a row if its a week day.

PM me the guy with the black series to see if we can set it up.

the gearbox in the 2012/2013 is phenomenal in real life it pics up a chunk of time vs the older one. so a dyno won't pick it up. but it would be nice to see what that gap might be on paper vs road

LOL... I remember that too. I made the mistake of driving another car a little higher up on the food chain recently. Will see how selling this car goes. If it works out... I'll get the other car at some point.

Hi all,

What ever happened with the dyno comparisons? Curious to see the differences between the three cars.

If you still want a bone stock P31, im in.
Also a friend of mine ownes a shop w/dyno at Sanoma raceway(works)
if you want to get a deal on a dyno day.
Could also turn this into a short run if enough people are into it.
He is a well known tuner in the EVO world and if we spark his interest could begin tuning AMG's.
Anyways, My car is a stock 2013 C63 coupe P31 w/3k miles on it.
Let me know.
