Hey guys hope all is well...I have a weird question...I have 2 tuners...a Velos and Eurocharged one...what I've noticed is on both tunes...whenever the car is in 2nd or 3rd and I floor it...this weird matallic like sound comes out of no where and lasts for a second...it's usually around 3-5K RPM ...Now on the stock file...no sound??? So I doubt anything is mechanically wrong with the car because I've tested all the tunes quite a bit and stock file makes 0 sounds What's the deal with 2 different tuners making the same sound? I've asked Velos...they sent me a V2...it quited the sound a bit but didn't get rid of it..Hopefully Eurocharge or someone can give some insight

 

pinging ? related to advanced timing ? not correct octane fuel ?.

 

No idea...it's pinging though...doesn't do it on stock file..just tuned...and no i doubt it I run 94 octane from chevron

 

can u revert to stock file i would not drive with noise u describe to me it sounds like pinging which can damage engine talk to your mec. or tuning company pistons/bearings can b damaged & are big $ to replace.

 

Do u have a carbon fibre intake??

 

Interesting. I noticed the same sound from time to time as well, but never attributed it to the tune (I have Velos as well). I just thought I ran over some rocks or pebbles or something. I would love to find out about this.

 

My car does the same thing from time to time on (Velos tune)

I have noticed it on my car since the tune. Didn't pay much attention to it. I have the Eurocharge v4. I'm in Canada and usually get shell vpower (91 but no ethanol) or if I can't find shell, then ultra 94 from petro Canada (10% ethanol)

I will be interested in knowing what's causing it.. I don't have a handheld tuner, so if I revert back, it will be good and the tune money will go to waste.

 

Car would pull timing if it was pinging unless they removed its ability to pull it low enough.

Ping is a metallic rattle sound from the engine. If it was pinging so much you could hear it clearly, you would probably have tiny tiny aluminum specs on your park plugs.

 

I bet it has something to do with suspension or exhaust if the tunes aren't the culprit. Suspension squats more with a tune when you get on it causing something to rattle, probably the exhaust heat shields.

Fixed! Jerry was quick to reply with a new file...works great now...I guess it was something to do with the octane...thanks guys!

Also for people wondering what tune is better...I'd say they both equally pull around the same...Velos is a bit harsher with the shifts but both tunes are pretty equal, both companies have great customer service to from my experience
