My C63 is gone, moving on...

Hi Guys,
It's been an awesome three years, but it was time to move on to something else. I waited 5 months for my car to come in (back in 2010) and it was a glorious three years of ownership. It's the only car I have ever felt sad to let go, it felt like putting a pet down the day I traded it to the dealer

This was my first AMG car and I think it is one of the best cars for the money (preaching to the choir here) It's the only 4 door "toy" car I ever owned and honestly, the styling never made my heart jump. I love the front and rear end, but the side of the car looks too similar to an ordinary C-class. The small tires and flat rear wheel arches always bothered me. The transmission also disappointed, a faster shifting car would have been great and the handling a high speed was a little scary at times (at least for my skill level). That said, the engine, exhaust and overall package make the C63 a winner I will truly miss that exhaust sound, AMG hit a grand slam with the exhaust note on these cars and I'm certain it's the best marketing decision the company has ever made!

So what am I getting to replace this beast? I test drove everything worthy for a replacement and it was not an easy task. I'm a new car *****, so the used Ferraris, v10 R8s, etc. just weren't right for me. I had one test drive in a 2014 911S and it was awesome. With an amazing PDK transmission, Sport exhaust option, and $30k of other stuff the 911S is an outstanding car. The sport exhaust is 85% of the AMG exhaust and that's saying a lot!

Finally, I had to spend $126k to get a car that made me smile and say "yeah, that's worth trading the C63 in for." That says a lot for the little monster that is the C63! My C2S will exit production in two weeks and it should be in my hands toward the middle of November, I spec'd the car just the right way, it's going to be a beast and look the part (I got the Sport Design Pkg).

I will still come around the forum from time to time (6speed and Rennlist are SLOW).

BTW, the dealer gave me a great price for my trade ($49k) and they wasted no time getting it on the market. If anyone is looking for an excellent preowned C63 (lived a sheltered life, seeing rain 2-3 times and, overly maintained and lived in a heated garage much of it's life).

PM me for the listing...

Sad to leave the AMG family, but excited to join the ranks of P-car fanatics. I'm thinking about getting a G63 in a year or two to supplement my winter fleet, so I might be back in an AMG soon enough. Life is good Peace out!

Well, I'm sure you had fun while it lasted.

Funny though, I came from a 911 to the C63. Don't and never regretted it!! (Oh yeah, it was because I had a child and needed the rear door)

I am on the waiting list for a GT3, so I'll see you soon enough.

haha, that's why I got the sedan C63 and I think my kids only rode in the car a handful of times, I was alone in the car 95% of the time, so the reality for me was, no need for a sedan, it's my toy car and not a DD.

The 991 is hands down an awesome car. I actually considered the 997 c2s when I bought the C63, but I liked the C63 better overall. The 991 is such a great platform and I'm blown away by the "fun factor" of the car. I took a 30-40 min test drive alone in the 911S and i was cracking up laughing at the $h!t that thing could do. I drive my cars very hard and aggressive, the 911S was asking for more

The 991 GT3 looks amazing, congrats--I might grab one in a couple years if I feel the itch! For now, the 911S will do just fine What a drug these cars are, hahaha

I did the same thing even before the 507. I went back to Porsche........just to see. Took the new(10 miles) body style 9114S for a 20min drive on my own. Same thing, was giggling so much. They really stepped it up with the new incarnation. I kept thinking that I could squeeze my daughter in the back, but ultimately decided that the 507 will be fine until the GT3.

As far as your comment about, "see you in a few years". That's how long/far back on the waiting list I am. I was told I would see mine in 2015/2016 and my deposit. I had to put 10% down.

Anyway, enjoy your ride. And yes, I'll see you in a few years!!!

Enjoy the Porshe! But when I first test drove the C63 I was giggling and thought I was in heaven. After over 3yrs of ownership it wears off. Like anything else. Oh yes the exhaust note still puts a smile on my face. Power? Yes I love it! BTW my bros 11 Stang 5.0 has the loudest Corsa exhaust and its a little louder then the C63.

Haha, thanks guys. I was never the kid with a 911 poster on the wall, but the 991 is an incredible car and it fit my budget I'll see if I get the Porsche bug or not, but owning a 911 is a bucket list car no matter what. I can't wait she's going to be beautiful with wide hips and 305s out back!

For the record, my posters were always Ferraris--I look forward to the day I buy my first F-car. Almost stretched and bought a used f430 this time around, but I'd rather wait and do it right the first time.
Cheers.

the 991 S is on par with the 997 GT3 without the unforgiving ride. I got 20" rims and spasm, so it will be lower and "rough" enough for me. plus the sport design pkg gives it the ducktail and gt3 style front fascia. the thing sticks to the road like velcro and the pdk is incredible! I'm pumped to say the least

Don't get me wrong--Ferrari does build fantastic machines. However, F-cars are overrated IMO. In addition, I'm not a fan of Ferrari's well known strategy to intentionally limit production in order to build tremendous exclusivity. IMHO, it is best to stick with German engineering.

Congrats on the 991! Let me know if you have any questions, we're always building those Porsche cars!
