DIY: How To Replace Rear Door Lock Pins (The Right Way) Video
Hey guys back at it with another DIY. Lots of feedback from my first DIY so i figure what the hell. When i got these lock pins i did a search and found very minimal information. Some guys saying just "pull them off" and some saying "twist and eventually they will come off". Took it upon myself to just dive into it.
Link to pins. Theres many sets out there all of which are pretty much the same.

Another great DIY! Thank you! I was about to purchase some pins in the near future. This'll be very useful. I used your facelift mirror housing removal DIY when I installed my facelift mirrors, too.
Its easier than it looks and took me about 30 mins total. The hardest part was pulling the panel off because of the plastic pins inside. I thought I would break something but a little force and they came out.

Great DIY. Invest in a set of nylon interior trim panel tools. You can buy them at Harbor Freight for under $10. I cringed when I saw you sticking a screwdriver between the door panel and metal. Ouch!
Just did the rears this week and the only issue I encountered was on one of the rear door panels. Be very careful when separating the door panel around the speaker. The lower half of the door panel is attached to the upper half but in a few places the plastic holding the two parts of the panel together might snap and give way before the orange clip. On my driver side rear, one little black plastic clip holding the speaker grill snapped because I put too much force on the lower part of the door panel without equally pulling on the upper half. Best way is to feel where the orange clip is and then pull with a hand on top and below the orange clip so it's not being forced off at an angle. All in all this was super easy and took 20-30 min for both sides. My fronts were super easy but the driver side was loose even when fully screwed in. I used a piece of thread locking tape to keep it tight.

I would only add one thing to an otherwise perfect tutorial. When you are about to bang the panel back on line up the plastic pins with the holes in your door or risk breaking some because they slide around and sometimes don't line up.

The video is great, and as Cosmo said above, be careful taking off the door panel. I broke one of my clips because... impatient!
Also, I found my rear pins kept popping off, because they're not threaded, so after a few hilarious pin-missile-episodes, I firmed them up in place with a little loctite...
I did the rear doors a few months ago and watched this video first. The difference I found is that the Torx size was, I believe, was 25 or 27. The screwdriver is used just to get ones fingers under the panel to start popping out the plastic pins that hold the door panel to the door frame. I didn't put even a small scratch on anything. I would suggest getting a few new plastic pins though as I partially broke two of them. They still worked though so I just reused them.
My pins are actually MB pins that I purchased on ebay from a dealership in Kentucky for a third of the price they usually go for. I also had the pins eject themselves after a few days so I use a dab of Gorilla glue and that fixed that. They look much better than the stock ones that's for sure.
