C63 Service

Hi guys,

Getting my C63 serviced (B Service).

Mercedes no longer use Mobil 1 so I wanted to know will it be ok to shift to the new oil they use? My C63 has always used Mobil 1 0w-40 so will the change be ok?

I'm also getting this stuff done at Mercedes:

Engine Oil and Filter Change (FUCHS oil 0w-40)
Change Brake Fluid
Mercedes Cabin Filter
Mercedes Coolant and Cooling System Cleaner (flush)
Transmission Service and Reprogramming if needed
Spark Plugs
Full inspection

I was going to get the diff oil changed but the service guy said not to waste my money. The diff seal was leaking and was repaired so new oil was put in a few months ago, so was told not to bother changing it.

Have i missed anything? Does anyone recommend anything else? Do's and Dont's?

Thanks

Looks like an exhaustive list.
Most of it can be DIYed which can save you even more $$.
I would let them do the coolant/cooling flush and transmission service.

Are the spark plugs reasonably easy to change on a c63? I had a E60 M5 previously and it required using a double-jointed dwarf monkey to get to the back cyclinder on each side.

My dealer has no problem with me providing my own Mobil 1 oil at service time. I pick it up from one of the discount car parts places. From memory it works out a bit cheaper than the prices MB would charge you for their stuff as well.

That is the 64 billion dollar question, with about 62 billion different views.
Mobil 1 remains on the approved list of oils for the M156 motor but MB "dropped" them as their preferred oil company on the back of a falling out over sponsorship in F1 racing.
A list of MB approved oils and lubricants available here:
http://bevo.daimler.com
then enter the relevant MB Sheet number for the C63 ie 229.5

re your proposed service schedule my dealer is telling me the coolant is good for 250000km or 15 years, so maybe you could leave this off the list for a while, particularly if you are due big ticket items like transmission flush and change of spark plugs

The tribiologist that is doing my UOA reviews (Terry Dyson) will tell you to try the FUCHS. He is not a fan of Mobil 1. He would also say to back it up with a UOA just to confirm.

Ok.

I think i'll just let MB do their thing with the oil. They told me if i still wanted to use Mobil 1 they're happy for me to supply it.

my wife bananas! :D
haha yes... as long as its on the approved list... use whatever. Your car doesnt suddenly develop an allergy to mobil 1 once the sponsorship went south.

funny enough. i had a discussion with a member here who swore by mobil 1.... saying that if MB put the mobil 1 sticker on the car,... it must be the only thing that it can take. i had to laugh.. and laugh hard. I'm using motul myself... so much better. especially since mobil 1 in NA.. I heard, is actually different than the european version

Awesome. Obviously FUCHS would be on the approved list if Mercedes/AMG is using it yes?

I hope it responds well to a highly modified/tuned C63 though.
