lol... again, what do I have to gain from BS'ing about this? If I went out and spent the money to have one installed, I would just say so.

But its true, my 13' C63 came with it on it. As one poster suggested, the dealership probably installed it... and if they did, I got a "freebee" as it's not listed on my paperwork anywhere and they must of forgot about it.

I honestly thought this was standard on the facelift C63's but now it appears I'm just special

He just responded to my text, the first vehicle the MB iluminated Star is available on is the 2014 CLA. It was not even offered as an option in 2013 therefore it is not an MB factory installed part.

Not sure what you have to gain but William Vetter who is the head of AMG in North America just confired it via text. I would screenshot from my text thread but I don't want the entire forum having his cell phone number....and yes, I have higher ups at AMG in the US and Germany on speed dial LOL.

Note in the pic below, there are dimmer areas on the outside of the circle.. That is why I chose EL wire versus LED. EL wire can be cut to length, has a consistent The other pic above showing the logo itself uses. Based on my visual look not having it on hand, appears to consist of a high power led shining into plastic (PET maybe?) which has divots formed into the edges to increase visibility or the light based on internal refraction. The locations of the LEDs would have caused the dimmer center outside edges

Honestly, I hope that is an aftermarket and not stock light up logo, the quality seems a little iffy.

I believe what everyone is staying that this was not a factory option... but that this was not avali for a 2013 I don't because its a FACT that this was on my car car when I purchased it.

If the dealership installed it or it came this way I'll have no idea. But my 2013 C63 had this on it when I purchased it off the showroom floor. Call BS all you want, I have zero benifit to make up a story like this.

Interesting. While I was not calling your original post BS like some others, I will stand by you for now. There is clearly a piece of clear plastic or acrylic (acrylic would refract the light better internally that plastic). between the MB start and the backing plate connecting it to the grill..

Did you buy the car new, or used. I would like to see how well it illuminates (see my previous post about dim spots), that would lead me to determine whether it is OEM or aftermarket).

I believe 100% that the dealer could have installed this, however your first post makes it sound like you have this ultra rare factory installed option.

Also, I have seent the factory illuminated star on a CLA and the one on your car looks different. The factory one is more backlit as where yours looks like the led's just shine out of tiny holes. Can't say for sure becasue photo quality is poor due to reflection off chrome but i would guess yours might be an aftermarket copy. I have seen a couple on ebay already.

Brand new... had 125 miles on it used from test drives, but thats it. Despite the rain, I'll take a quick picture when I get home as this has turned into a hot topic - which I'm actually gald about. I have something unique.

I don't believe the dealership installed a knock-off. They sell the OEM one's, see here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-GENUINE-MERCEDES-BENZ-ILLUMINATED-STAR-KIT-08-UP-C-W204-10-14-GLK-CLASS/251387513406?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D3001079245221773610%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D251303203769%26
Seller is the same dealership I purchsed my car from, Open Road Mercedes of Bridgewater (NJ)

Okay, here is the story... called the dealership.

It is an OEM MB part, but not a factory option. The sales dept had it installed it on my 2013 after the fact. They installed it to show it off to help the parts dept. sell them.

I got it for free.

The illuminated star is a dealer add-on option for the 2014 C Series, it's not rare in any way. It only illuminates when you lock/unlock the doors at least from the factory. I was offered the option by the dealer for my C63 AMG order.

The illuminated logo is cheesy, stuff like that is tacky. They know it, or it would be standard vs. a dealer add-on option.

It's not for everyone, I'll give you that. But I love it. It looks awsome in person. Personal preference.

Yeah, my SA was really pushing these stars for some reason. I do think the dealerships have a bunch in stock.

Dude, don't be an ***. Neon is blatant and in your face. This is subtle, and while it is not for everyone, some people (myself included) may actually like it.

I see how you handle when others don't share your opinion.

Regarding Neon - Thats my next mod. But first I have to put on vent stick-on's, platidip everything, big wing, cut my springs, and put on go fast stickers.

Be sure to park it next to the green Camaros with the green BMW style headlight halos. Those are CHOICE.

Needs one of those too.

Just teasing you.

These "Illuminated Stars" aren't quite as exclusive as Mr. Vetter described.

My local MB dealer has them in stock right now. And they will fit a variety of models . . . including a 2008 W204 standard C Class.

I don't understand why he said that they were rolling out initially with the 2014 CLA.

The product has been available for several months now.
