Measured weight for c63 coupe and sedan
I looked up on the mbusa website and found the weight to be higher for the coupe (compared to sedan, which was interesting). But more interestingly, the weight was lower than what I expected. It was 3600 lbs for sedan and 3800 lbs for the coupe. The links is: http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...nt=model-specs
So, the question is: Why is coupe heavier? And why is the sedan so light? Also, does this mean that the 507 edition cars are even lighter due to the shaved pounds in engine and hood?
I posted a similar question in the parts weight sticky a few days ago but didn't get any answers so I figured I would post a dedicated weight thread.
For me, new to the 507, the C63 and Mercedes overall I was very surprised to see a spare tire along with a jack/tools etc in the trunk. Why no run flats?
I had run flats on a Jeep SRT8 and that was an SUV - thought that was the norm these days for performance oriented cars. Sure fire way to lose 100lbs right there...and again it all adds up.
Audi and Land Rover are making great strides in reducing the weight of vehicles and it shows in performance figures. Weight reduction helps all aspects of performance, not just straight line.
As for glass - it's heavy.

Remember my 1st gen audi TT had only an emergency tire repair canister instead of the spare tire/tools. Audi is def a few steps ahead in weight reduction.
I had an 06 so we had the same Gen - I was waiting for the new gen to come out but it got porkie, weight wise and did not have much in the way of a HP boost. Then I waited for them to put a SC on it like the Challenger...then I got tired of waiting and got a 507. Maybe I will return to SRT at some point...
I think the first gen is the best - raw grunt, lightweight, bullet proof and of course cheap in terms of bang for the buck.
The new ones are pushing $70k with options - bit much for what you get in my mind.
Feel free to tell me how wrong I am.
The coupe has a B pillar.
In order to get a C63 to the weight of a GT3 you'd probably need a sawzall (remember the SCC Sentra?).
