I'm surprised there wasn't anything there to protect cars from going into that ditch. I don't know the area though, so if it isn't a very traveled road then I'd get it.

To be honest, even after watching the whole video and hearing your explanation about what might have caused the fire, I still find it confused to figure it out. Am I the only one feeling that way?

I thought a heat source with a very high temperature was needed to make a car burnt like that. Your speed before pulling over to the side was not crazy at all to get the brake disk overheated.

But hey, glad everybody survived.

Catalytic converters can become very hot, that could well be the cause. Unless they were removed on the C63 of course! Hot cats can easily set fire to grass under the car.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Good thing you guys were right behind the GTR, otherwise, who knows what would have become of them.

Rallies are fun, but you always have to keep yourself in check. I know when I do them I get tempted to race with the guys going full tilt.

The GT-R driver luckily walked away with no real injuries (amazingly). He's since replaced that GT-R with a black Gallardo and a porsche daily driver

The outside conditions were already very hot and dry where we were. We'd also been driving for quite a while with LOTS of hard braking before turns. The fire started at the front right wheel so it was very likely the brakes.

Amazing video. My praises go out to you for responding to the crash victims. I assume there were 2 people I the GTR. Video says the occupants survived with severe injuries, but your last post says that the driver walked away with no real injuries. Does that mean the passenger was severely injured? The only thing that matters is the health of everyone involved. All other property can, and sounds like it was, replaced. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure why my friend put that actually. Both the driver and the passenger walked away from the crash with no broken bones and such. They were definitely pretty banged up and bloody, but nothing serious. We were very thankful that everyone was able to walk away with their lives that day. I thought for sure when I saw the car flipped down below that it was going to be a much worse case scenario.
