Joe you must either be a saint or a total masochist for parking yourself in what is undoubtedly the absolute worst place to be on MBW. I didn't realize how bad it was until I started watching this thread for a few days.
Maybe change the title of the thread to something like: M156 Headbolt Problem Affects All 2010 and Earlier Cars and Some 2011's
Keep up the good work man. Your sacrifice is saving many of us from going insane with this crap we're it to come up in the main forum.

MB quoted me at $13,700 (USD) for head bolts only, no buckets etc...
Indy shops generally charge $2,500-$4,200 depending on what you have done and which parts you use.
Deciding if it's worth it is up to you.

The OP content doesn't answer any questions since it was originally about a UK car with a different labeling for the model year and eventually morphed into the "I don't understand 2009 is before 2011" thread. I posted some info earlier I thought would be useful for the OP (like the engine number and cutoff dates/VINs for the switch over). I can hunt it down if it is even possible to edit the OP anymore.
Not that any new user would actually read it, but at least it would be there. Also this website: http://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Mercedes-Benz provides free VIN decodes in like three seconds which would save you uploading PDF data cards.

They may last 300k, who knows, but still has the old bolt design that could fail.

I am looking into purchasing a 2010 c63 amg and would like to know if it's motor was part of the affected range of motors or if it has already been corrected if you can tell me that much. It's a 2010 with 20,000 miles

I thought US start in the 4th quarter of the preceding year where Euro is July-June.
So the overlap, at maximum, is 3 months.
US last month for Year X = September
Euro last month for Year X = June
How far into US 2011 is Engine No. 60658?

The changeover was in June-July 2010 build date cars. In the US this is early model year 2011. I suggested looking at the last six of the VIN (for the preface lift C63) to avoid the confusion of model year. Anything lower than 528000 is old headbolts. I am fairly confident anything over 534000 is new headbolts, but double check up to 545000 just to make sure. Takes one second to tell if a car has new, old, or maybe headbolts by the VIN. Why this info is not in a sticky or the OP I don't know.
Many other countries list cars by year of manufacture so every C63 built in 2010 for say England is listed as a 2010. So cars built after July 2010 will still be listed as 2010 and have the revised head bolts. This small detail does not excuse the hordes of first time posters asking if their 2010 (or 2009) is affected though.
You can get a facelifted 2011 C63 Coupe in many countries too (but no one corrects that either as most people are US based).
