Head Bolt Affected VIN - 2010 & older, & early 2011s

2008 CLS 63 AMG
Low light came on last month, topped off, came on during long trip this weekend.
2008 CLS63 96xxx miles
No visible leaks
When doing valve cover gaskets timing cover ect I did inspection on the camshafts and looked to be normal wear, not rounding off.
Saw the old style head bolts in place

As many of you know, I have been providing Datacard info to many members interested in their build sheet, or to verify engine serial number.
I received a PM from a member today who indicates he has a "late 2010 C63". The Datacard for the VIN he provided shows a delivery date of 11/24/2010. The Datacard indicates the engine number is over 4,000 engines beyond serial number 156983 60 060658 where the new head bolts were employed.
Since we've believed that all 2010 and older, and some 2011s were in the affected range, I'm confused about how this one could be outside the range. I did a search to find out which digit in the VIN corresponds to the model year, but had no luck getting a clear answer.
Anyone have any thoughts on all of this?
