So the beast is alive. I managed to get it started, and it seems to run good. No funny ticks or squeeks. I only ran for a few seconds because there is an oil leak at the oil cooler connetor (looks to be cracked). The next steps are to slowlt piece this monster together starting with the essential mechanical stuff followed by the cosmetic stuff.
Couple of question for fellow owners (if you don't mind looking under the hood for me).
1) When I ran the serpentine belt, it looks like one idler pulley is not used. Seems very odd to me, I spent 45min trying to figure out the serpentine routing, and that is the only config that worked (perhaps I got a shorter belt or something???)
[IMG][/IMG]
2) Does anyone know where this sensor goes, or what it is? It is located towards the front passenger side by the radiator area where the impact occurred. When I typed up the PN on the label, it didn't come up. Perhaps radiator coolant level indicator?
[IMG][/IMG]
3) Does anyone know what goes here (or have a P/N). I believe it's part of the evaportor for smog, but I couldn't tell by looking at the diagrams.
[IMG][/IMG]
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I work in aerospace, but have a side gig doing weddings in my classic cars. I have tons of pictures on Fraktclassiclimo.com and facebook (under the same name).

Edward, It's a 1956 Bentley S1. I also have a 1950 Cadillac convertible that is temporarily staying at my parents house while I put the C63 back together.

Nice collection of cars.
And here are two pics that should help with item 3. Let me know if you need another close-up of the part... the flash might make some of the numbers hard to read.

This pulley you mentioned is supposed to be used. See how the belt goes on my car (blue arrows)
Found this thread which illustrates better than my picture https://mbworld.org/forums/4005782-post1.html

This is the external temperature thermostat. It goes to the front bumper in the driver's side mesh grill

You are missing the absorber container IMO (part # A204 470 10 16). See the picture attached. Do you still have the red circled part (purge valve part # 000 470 88 93)?

Edward/Anthony,
Thanks a ton for the pictures/help, they help a lot. Yes, the purge valve part # 000 470 88 93 is there unharmed.

Item 3 is some sort of dampener in the same circuit as the purge valve. Its says LU Damp********** something in German. It was too hard to read backwards in a mirror..LOL. The part # on it is A204 470 10 16 V. Again I was reading it backwards from a mirror so I hope I didn't get it wrong.

A bit of good news.....I went to register the car today, and there is no record in the DMV of a salvaged title. Not sure why NMVTIS was reporting it as salvaged. I will get the pink slip as soon as I can get the car smogged. I got a 2 month extension for smog, so the clock is ticking. I'm getting all the essential parts (condenser, radiator, brackets, sub structure, etc) now.

Glad to hear the good news
Props for reviving an AMG on a budget - I know it's a hassle getting all the right parts.
Good luck with your project.

Looks like a fun project.
Are you rebuilding to keep it, or are you one of those guys who buys wrecked, fixes and sells them? I have a buddy who does that, makes good money too.
I hope you got this thing cheap! It was totaled for a reason, I know my insurance company doesn't total until 75% of the value is met worth of damages.
Have you had it on a frame machine yet? Looks like one of those collisions that may leave you as; one of those people I see driving in front of me that looks like they are driving a little sideways.
Regardless, GL with the build man, nice to see some guys on here with good mechanical knowledge, now I know who to ask questions if I ever have them. lol
Happy Modding

If the car were to get a salvage title, I would of barely broke even today (and most likely even took a loss). Since the car is going to hold a clean title, I can afford to drive it around for a couple of years and still get 100% of my money back. I typically do this with motorcycles. This is the first time I'm doing something to this magnitude with a car.
I will of course get the frame checked out and also the lower control arms, but I need to be able to get the car moving so I can drive to those places.

Thanks Matt, I just ordered the essential parts for getting the car running/driving. Came up to almost $1000, which isn't that bad.

Some good news and bad news from today.
I was able to bend the oil cooler back to shape, but there is a pin-hole leak in one of the cavities. I tried to take it to a buddy who does aluminum brazing, but it looks like he couldn't get it hot enough (the aluminum oil cooler is too effecient in transfering the heat . I will have to take it to a pro shop to get the pin hole heli-arced, or I may just drop the $400+ on a a new oil cooler. Anybody has an oil cooler P/N 209 500 01 00 laying around?
Second piece of good news; I removed the front lower control arm bolt and found that it got slightly bent from the impact. Gently pushing everything back into the nominal position (minus putting the bent bolt back), my left and right wheel distances are now identical, so there is no frame/control arm damage. I will still take it to a reputable place and confirm once I piece everything together.

So my parts are starting to trickle in, and I had some free time to start the assembly process. I recently received the radiator, condenser, bracketry, and various other parts. I must say, I'm very impressed with MB engineering. Everything literally just clicks in together, including the coolant hoses, no funky hose clamps to tighten down. I can't wait for the oiler cooler to come in, so I can slap it on and take this baby out for a test drive.
I also found a gently used front bumper cover out of Chicago...$225 including shipping via Greyhound and in black, what a steal. Thank You Roman for hooking me up.
I'm still shopping around for a black hood (possibly even carbon fiber) and driverside fender. So far I'm $2300 into the repair, and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck man! I'm in the bay area too...if you need a hand, maybe we can have a meet where we all come and check out your car and help you out? Anyone else down?

No problem, I'm open to it. Most of the work is pretty light. The only thing that needed two people was removing the hood, and I got my wife to help!

Thanks Zeph and Roswell, I hope to get the remaining parts to get the car operational this week. Then I'm off to to the Smog Test station for the smog check (that's the only way DMV will issue me the pink slip). After that it's shopping around for a fender, hood, and misc mounting parts.

So my situation is that I purchased a 2010 C63 at a Tow Auction. The car will most likely hold a salvaged title (even though the tow yard originally said it was clean through the DMV). I know it will be salvaged because the NMVTIS website confirmed salvaged, and I was able to convince the tow yard before the auction, this kept the bidding low. Looking at the car, there was no airbag or side curtain deployments, the seatbelt pyros didn't go off, and the engine bay seemed fine. There was damage to the driver side fender, bumper, hood, and support structure behind the bumper, which tore the serpentine belt.
Couple of questions/help please.
1) Can I get the service/parts manual on-line, or a working link - I checked several links doing the searches here, but they were dead. I know my other options are going on e-bay or to the dealer.
2) Can someone be so kind as to check what option package(s) the car came with (or provide me with a link). It's Vin # WDDGF7HB3AF373887. The guy I was bidding against said the car came with every option available. I was very hesitant to believe that.
3) If anyone knows who this car previosly belong to (or if that person is on this forum), I would like to talk to them to find out the history on the car. It's black with light tan interior. License plate # 6XRG422. The NMVTIS website says it has roughly 23k miles and the accident happened late last year, most likely in the San Francisco/Bay Area.
4) Lastly, and most importantly, which brings me to the title of this thread; Can I upgrade to the 2012 post face lift front clip. Since my front bumper cover, hood, and left front fender are toast, can I just get a 2012 or newer front clip. I read up on here, and it looks like only the lights and hood are different. My right Xenon/adaptive light, foglight and fender are still good. I'm pretty sure it is doable, but I wasn't sure if the fenders are different on the 2012 and newer C63. If someone has done the conversion, can you list out the parts that were needed. My subframe behind the front bumper is tweeked as well, so I'm sure I will have to replace that too (The radiator and condenser look OK).
I appreciate any help I can get.

More progress!...I got the structural and functional parts all put on, changed the oil and coolant. The car runs amazing, and is so much fun to drive. Just got it smogged and registered. Found a stock black fender in Germany, so I don't think I need to get the paint shop involved, unless I get a different color hood. I think I will just get a carbon fiber hood if I don't find a black hood.
