Weistec oil/air separator works great.

I have over 10,000km on my stage 3 build now and since installing the oil air separator.

I had the blower off yesterday to replace the intake seals and change out the valve on the crank case and just doing some other winter checks on lines/hoses etc.

I should have taken some pics but I didn't, damn blower is so heavy. But I inspected the intake tracks on the blower and heads, both looked great. Valves were nice and clean along with the intakes. The blower tracks were great with just a tiny bit of residue on the intake surfaces. Compared to when I removed the stock intake manifold, it was covered with oil everywhere.

This separator in my opinion is one of the best mods you can do to the car to keep the engine and intake healthy. If you plan on the keeping the car for a long time, Id look into this.

This is why I installed mine before even getting the windows tinted. I intend to keep my car for a long time so in my opinion it's the most important mod.

Can you guys please post pictures of where you mounted them. Isn't that the only bad part of the kit (the crappy mounting bracket)?

I empty mine once a month. Seems to be a good interval.

Thanks for the pics man. Why'd you choose that position versus where Weistec tells you to mount it? Still use the bracket it came with? How easy is it for someone to empty the can?

It is located south of the coolant reservoir. On my 09 sedan I don't have this, it is an empty space.

That is exactly where i installed mine. Basically on the sedan there is no space to do it like weistec suggests it. I think on the weistec documentation they installed it on a CLK.

I don't have the WIS up and running to look it up but I'm guessing it's the pump for the heated washer nozzles.

I wonder why this is essential considering Mercedes-Benz AMG never thought to add it to the M156 or any of its variants over the course of 6 years.

Not saying that it doesn't work (it looks very well made) but there have been some tweaks to the M156 and the M159 over the years but never an OEM oil/air separator.

Curious stuff.

Also, Weistec promised a group buy for this a few months ago but I never saw that come to fruition.

Imho MB would not want their customers to have the additional service intervals.

All cars have a PVC or crankcase valve that allow moisture contaminants to be recycled back to the oil pan. As long as you change the oil within days or miles of specified intervals, it's fine.

With a "catch can" , this allows the separation of moisture especially upon cold starts until the engine comes to operating temperature. Moisture seems to accelerate with a supercharger or turbo charger.

Implementing a catch can will also increase oil life due to the decrease of moisture contamination in between oil changes.

Btw, the worse you can do to an engine is start it cold and not let it warm up to normal operating temperature. That's how sludge forms (water and oil)

Could it be a canadian feature?

Wouldn't they want the extra money? Unlike BMW, MB's maintenance is not free.

It's a pump to circulate coolant and keep the heat on when the ignition is turned on without the engine running.

Anyone in Australia (preferably Melbourne) got one of these fitted?
I'm quite keen on getting one but would be curious what the dealers over here are like with warranty, etc. with it installed.

Mine has just been fitted, I haven't even picked up the car yet.

Wouldn't be able to help you with warranty questions because I have an '08 so my car is out of warranty.

Also in Sydney, installed at City Performance Centre.
