Sun Coast Creations hood ferdback
I've had the hood on my car for about a week. It does make a difference. First, I used to only have one cold start per day, in the morning. Maybe if my car sat the remainder of the day would I have another cold start. Now, if I sit over 5 hours (like between lunch and leaving work) I could have 2 or 3 cold starts.
As I drive, normal temps hovered around 221°F oil and 197°F water. Driving through clean air during the day, the lowest I've seen is 212°F oil and 183°F water. That delta should be more significant if I do a track day since the velocity of the air should clear out the engine bay at a better rate than a stock hood.
According to my body shop guy, this is one of the best fiberglass hoods he's ever seen. Some fine tuning adjustments took about two hours, but the rest of the install was painless. One thing to note is that the hood springs on a stock hood are not removable so you need aftermarket ones.

Care to shed some light on what hood springs you went with?

Cool. I've heard OEM's are too stiff for the lighter hood so just where to get the right ones.

hood springs? The two springs in front of the hood between the latch which pops up the hood? I took those off easily.

I know we are taking about the black series hood but I thought I would just add this photo of sun coast creations functional ram intake hood as well. I can get a few more pics if anyone is interested.

Thanks. I believe they are the ones that made Keith's but not 100%. Keith recommended the company to me. Still the prototype but I can honestly say I love it. Great increase in top end speed. Atleast it feels that way. Lol As for the F15's...picked them up from another forum member....I collect rims just like you

Good to hear,
My biggest issue with Fiberglass is that its prone to rock chips over time.
Question about the vents, the real 507 hood has a tray to dissipate water from the engine area. Is this hood constructed the same way or is it just open at the bottom of the vents?

My body shop guy said he got the springs from IMC, a parts company that only does German and Japanese vehicles only.

If you are talk about the ram intake hood, it's just open on the side vents. There is no tray to dissipate the water....but this is something I will looks into
