Don't buy from JL-Motoring
So I purchased a $1000 hood from them. Took about two month for shipping which is okay for a huge item. Packaging looks no damage or dents on it, but once you open the packaging... Both sides of the hood is CRACKED. It took me a week trying to contact them and explain what happened because they never answers their phone and takes two days to reply an email.
Their response "The forwarding company said the package was not insured the full value because they did not want the Canada custom to charge you the full value of the duty. We are really sorry about this happen. We will refund $250 back to you and please have the bodyshop to repair the damage. They can use the bondo to refinish damaged area."
I took it to a body-shop and the quote was $750. For the next week I've been trying to reach JL-motoring all they did was refund the $250 via Paypal but never replied to any of my emails or phone calls
So JL sent me a package with no visual damage on the package but the hood itself is cracked, also they blames duty/tax for not fully insure a $1000 item (on the paper they say the item worth $500 and I only paid $25 for duty by saving pennies I had to pay $500 out of my own pocket to fix their f ups). They pretty much screwed me over. Worst shopping experience ever, never going to buy from them again.

Wow, first off, sorry bro! Dealing with that kind of **** sucks. I would have gone through Benz Works in Socal....they are a JL dealer and at least that way there is a middle man. I ordered a big fin diffuser from them and it arrived safely and installed like a breeze!
As for what you did...since you apparently paid via paypal, you always have a dispute to file if you choose to do so. Make sure you exhaust every other method first though. They can't blame you for lowering the value for customs...in fact, they aren't supposed to do that (even though most of us appreciate it since you don't get screwed by customs that way)...besides, what if you wanted to leave the carbon exposed? That is BS that they said use bondo...just tell them you plan on leaving the weave exposed, which is why you went with a carbon hood...so bondo is NOT an option.
Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. No way this hood is repairable unless you paint over it. Can you paint both sides & leave the middle part CF? That would look good & save the hood.
As for JL motoring, it's not the first time we hear horror stories about them.

Was gonna look into buying from JL Motoring.....NOT ANYMORE. I HATE SACAMMERS. I hope their beloved cars get hit by a SEMI truck. This website is full of them and I myself have already been a victim of scamming and wiring money for products and received damaged and defective items....

Well it sucks but if you used paypal combined with a credit card it shouldn't be that hard to get your money back... Whining here is not gonna get your money back, it's just gonna help people avoid getting scammed... but if you want your money back, all you have to do is initiate a dispute and explain what happened... if paypal doesn't work, call your CC company and do a chargeback.

FYI, most all credit cards, including our beloved Platinum and Black AE, does NOT cover or protect for purchases made for Automobile parts or accessories. Trust me on this one...
I have learned that with any purchase, there is not '"real" protection. All they (Paypal, credit cards, banks, etc) do is act as a middle man and "ask" the vendor to play fair, which a lot of times they just say go screw yourself...

I had a similar situation happen to me. Luckily the other company had great customer service. That's why I always ask the UPS freight driver to open the box prior to accepting anything...if anything is wrong just refuse the delivery of the package. Just a heads up to future purchases. Hopefully you can fix the hood. Good luck.

Fu<ken snakes cheap out on insurance for shiping and you have to take the hit?
Fu<k that!
Why don't they take it back and use that $250 and fix it themselves....oh....I know why they don't do that.....its because there is no way you can repair the CF for $250
If they gave 1 small shi+ about the community and the industry , they would take the hit, not cheap out on insurance again, and give you your money back or send a new hood...and learn like all other succesful businesses, that positive experiences generate exponential growth.
Makes me sick to my stomach that good guys are getting screwed over by these jackass rinky dink so called "enthusiast" shops

I also had a bad experience with them, they advertise the front bumper side vent for my e63 so I bought it,an when it got here it looked totally different from the image on the website. I returned it an got my money back two weeks later.
