Delayed downshifts..

It shocks me that no tuner has figured out a remedy to the delayed timing between when you push the paddle, and the transmission actually responding and shifting gears. I recently saw the thread about Eurocharged offering a tcu tune to the "first gen" 7g transmissions in order to get them to blip on downshifts but our cars already have that. My question is why are tuners not able to program it so that there is no delayed reaction?

Whoever does that will get my money. If I can double push the down paddle and it would downshift twice, that would greatly improve my driving experience..

tried this?

If you hold the paddle it show which gear is being requested and will drop down to the gear you need when u let the paddle go... everyone wants the quick taps on the paddles but benz didnt build it like that. Maybe when DCT is standard on all AMG models?

Thanks for the feedback, is something of this nature possible with a tune?

Yeah, very annoying. I don't use the paddles for this reason. What's the use of having "manual" paddles if the car keeps overriding my choice???

Guys, this is a software and hardware issue, a ecu or tcu tune alone will not give you immediate shifts via paddle inputs. It is a combination of tcu tuning, line pressure and the transmission type. A tc or mct trans will never be as quick as a dct. My CLK BS has a tc it and the paddle inputs were not great, my C BS has the mct and paddle input was much quicker but still left a lot to be desired. My SLS has a dct and its paddle shift inputs are almost instant, I am very happy with the dct.

I'm not a transmission expert. In fact, I think it's fair to say I know pretty much nothing about transmissions.

But I do wonder why my E39 BMW with a Steptronic has a quicker downshift and doesn't override my choices like the AMG transmission.

How did the TCU tune / valve body affect the shifting of the c63 BS? I have a FBO n/a coupe and i am sending my valve body and TCU in to weistec next week for the upgrade. No one has really done this upgrade and reported on it so I figured I can get some insight from you. Will the paddle delay be any better? How about shift times and shift "harshness" would appreciate some feedback thanks

I have done this mod, in fact the valve body upgrade prototype was tested in my car. I can not honestly or definatively say if the delay as it related to the paddle input is any quicker, it may indeed be, but still not as quick as a DCT. I can positively say the car shifts faster, meaning the mechanical stuff inside the transmission shifts faster and harder, if that makes any sense to you. Not sure if "harder" is really the correct term that I should be using, maybe firmer or crisper would be a better term. I would not use the word "harsh" either, at least I don't think it is anywhere near harsh. No doubt you will notice(hear and feel) a difference. Shift times will be decreased thus E/T's will be decreased. I think you will be pleased with the modification.

Cars.
My 2013 e92 M3 with DCT had a small delay as well, but it shifted a lot quicker then the C63's MCT. I really wish MB had put in the DCT trans into the W205 AMG.

Does some company make a double clutch trans that will bolt up or can the case be built with a DC setup.

I have noticed that if I want it to shift at 6k rpm I hit the paddle at 4k rpm, Really slow!

what? lol...you shift at 4k and it shifted at 6??? what mode are you in? Are you sure the paddles on your wheel are screwed in properly? my car shifts basically the second i put the paddle in ..i mean downshifting is kinda gay cuz the computer only lets you down shift so far but upshifting isn't THAT bad...go get that checked out maybe
