Newcomer into the Benz World
Hello,
Recently I've been researching and looking for a new german saloon, I've been stuck with three choices, E92 M3, B7 RS4 and the 09 C63 AMG. Ive come from a background of BMW and Audi, right now i am driving a Stage 3 01 S4, which i dearly love as it is truly a monster. I think i have made my choice on the C63 though, as M3 is quite pricey and the RS4 well can't really find any. But that fact of the matter is how monstrous the C63 is. Putting out good numbers from a stock engine.
My question for you c63 owners, whats the biggest expense you have ran into and mileage wise whats a good amount you would say to hope in at? I am a DIY guy so all the small maintenance work i can do. Also the mpg doesn't faze me since my S4 gives me 12 mpg in city and 19 HWY. i get lucky if i get 300 to the tank. then again I have a heavy foot.
Thanks!!

I have the RS4 and C63. RS4 gets worse mpg than the c believe it or not.
But yea, tires will become a seasonal item haha

I agree with the fuel & tire
And possibly speeding fines
My RS4 got 26 on the hw and my c63 gets 20
Around town avg RS 19-20 the C 15-16
Maybe as high as 27-28 for the RS if i set the cruise at 70
That was one of the impressive things about that car

Um, what? My RS isn't even close to that. I'm at like 12-14 city and 20-22 hwy AT BEST.

I put over 80k miles on mine
On long trips to Montreal for F1 I could get 400 miles til the light came on
That is 15 gal
Steady state non mountain I could see 28 mpg
Mixed driving 19-20
The best car I've owned to date
To early for a verdict on the C63
A/S tires
44 psi
K&N filter
Shell 93
Car was lowered, believe it or not that helps mpg
From eibach testing on their website
The Mustang GT even showed a small, but meaningful improvement in highway mileage, due to its improved aerodynamics. In identical, wind-free, traffic-free cruise-controlled conditions, on the same exact route, the Eibach-equipped Mustang GT delivered an impressive 28.12 mpg, a significant 4.3% increase over the stocker's 26.97 mpg run.

Look at it this way
They weigh the same
Tires ~ the same
The amg engine is 50% larger
The rs has a 11% higher comp ratio = > eff
Manual vs auto tranny ( less losses offset by awd)
Direct injection = > eff
Sportauto Cd RS vs C63 0.31 vs 0.32 iirc
Smaller frontal area too
The RS has to get at least the same mpg?
Not 30% worse
