SCAM ALERT: There's a C63 Listed Online That I Uncovered as a Scam Today. Please Read
I came across a black 2010 C63 AMG located in Wisconsin yesterday on Autotrader. It only has 37k miles and they're only asking $33,600, clean title....NADA Value is around $50k, sounds too good to be true? Read on...
I e-mailed them about it and a dealer e-mailed me back this morning.
Red Flag #1: The ad said it's a private party car.
The dealer is in Denver Colorado...
Red Flag #2: The ad says the car is in Wisconsin.
I spoke with the dealer who had at least 4 different phone numbers and two e-mails in his e-mail handle. I asked him to e-mail me a scanned copy of the title, front and back and a cop of the Carfax. He sent both later in the day. Carfax says dealer took inventory of the car last week and had his dealer name on it. Ok, now I'm confused...
Red Flag #3: I googled the dealer and found virtually no information on them, no reviews but they have a very convincing website with high end cars all over it. I typed their address on google maps to see a physical picture of the "dealer" and it was a RV store. No car dealership in sight.
Red Flag #4: The "dealer" said he only will accept wired money, no checks because out of state transactions with certified checks takes too long.
Finally, I googled the VIN # of the car and the car is currently being sold by EuroCar OC which is a reputable dealer in Southern California. I called EuroCar and they confirmed that car is on their lot. EuroCar also provided the Carfax which shows all the same exact information as that other "dealer" except where it says a dealer took delivery of the car and this time, it doesn't show that first dealer's name. The copy of the title is also photoshopped. Eurocar called this "dealer" and the guy cursed him out. I'm not sure if I'm permitted to name the dealer who's behind the scam so I omitted that. Unless an admin says it's ok to reveal it and show proof (screenshot of the e-mail, link to the Autotrader ad), I can. The purpose of posting this is because I don't want a member here to get scammed out of $30+k!!

Wow... how were they planning to get away with it? How are they gonna 'wash' the money and withdraw it? This is a lot of money, I'm sure feds will be interested in them.
Could you please PM me their info I want to act like a potential victim and see how far I can mess with them?

The site has some automated scripts in place which will prevent you from posting links and content that goes against the rules. This is your first few posts, and I do believe there are restrictions in place (something like 10 posts before you can post links and images, I'm not sure though, but there is something)
So post away, worst case, an admin will contact you and remove the content, but usually that is only if you are posting something malicious in nature, or are trying to generate some type of revenue.

Here's the Autotrader ad. Wisconsin phone number and it says private seller. The VIN is right there and if you google that VIN, the real listing will come up. This "seller" went through great lengths and had a photoshopped title and Carfax ready to go. Link to the real car attached to that VIN was listed in a previous post in this thread.

Here's the email he sent in response to my inquiry. Now all of a sudden, he's a dealer and in Denver instead of Wisconsin. He said he listed in Wisconsin to increase exposure. I entered the address of the "dealer" into google maps and there was no auto dealership in sight. That address is a RV rental business. Tried to Google the dealership for reviews and got nothing. Their website is filled with high end cars with no VIN numbers.

Interesting...
Is that ad only on the mobile version of autotrader? I went online to check it but couldn't find it.
I wanted to check the pictures posted in the Ad. Just wondering where did they get it from?
Thanks for sharing

You probably didn't see it because it's listed in Wisconsin and you may have searched near his "dealer" is in Denver.
Now I don't know how much longer it'll be up because EuroCar called him today and told him that VIN is in their inventory.

He said he's gonna check what he got tomorrow and get back to me! I love how perfect his english is. Even better than mine! (Spoke to him on the phone as well, he sounds very FOB)
"I will be back with an answer tomorrow morning if,I have a new arrival but I don't have all the info right now..Thanks
Korey"

This guy could be a broker, just a middle man making a couple percent moving other peoples inventory. I have a friend that does this with boats and RV's and he is 100% legit. He never touches any of the vehicles, he simply markets them and sells them for dealers and banks across the country. My friend moves 2-3 boats or RVs a week on average and averages $2000 in his pocket per deal. He works about 15 hours a week and makes well over a quarter mil a year doing it.
