Wow the owner really didn't drive this thing.

If you can get it for 40K its a good price given the mileage.

If it has 420 miles on the clock driven in the last 6 years, then it were definitely hard-driven miles.
But it definitely looks like new.

Have fun with all the dried up seals and such. If I were buying an 08 I'd look for low miles (like all other cars) but at least something with SOME kind of mileage on it.

That car probably needs several grand worth of work just to bring it back up to mint mechanical condition - including tires, a bunch of seals, all fluid changes, and a laundry list of suspension components like bushings etc. just from sitting all the time.

Steel Grey Metallic C63!!
The seller is trying to sell the car for $46,000, but thinks it's not worth his time to list out all the options in detail? He might have bought it and parked it thinking that it'll be a classic one day.

The Fisker sounds like it is a bargain, but I would not even consider it.

keep in mind that because it was not driven all the common problems that would come up and get fixed free of charge under warranty never came up. now the warranty is expired and you would have to pay for all those problems out of your own pocket.

Servicing the fluids alone will cost you about a grand or two, depending on who you take it to.

For used cars, it's almost always better to go with a certified pre-owned.

Doesn't even have it's first oil change. I wonder if he started it up every few weeks?

This would make me tread extremely carefully. Appealing mileage, but the rutt that comes along with it wouldn't be worth it. 400 miles on an 08? I think i just might have to pass on a six year old car that probably moved once a year.

I'd never buy a car with such low mileage....if a car isn't driven at least somewhat frequently, it just goes bad...just the way it is.

Spot-on. Wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole unless you're prepared to spend $$$ replacing every single seal, bushing, belt and hose. Tires and shocks alone would probably put you in the $5K+ range.

I just don't see why everybody thinks it will need tires, hoses, belts, and seals. It's probably been kept inside. I doubt if they are rotted. Heck, the car is only 6 years old. So people think that a 2008 with 50,000 miles on it is better than a 2008 with only 400 miles? I think $40,000 would be a great deal to get a $65,000 car that has only been driven 400 miles.

It can be left in a vacuum... It will still dry out. Tires will develop hard spots etc. Cars, especially performance ones, are made and built to be driven hard. Not sit

I can see that the car should be driven at least once per month to oil parts that would otherwise rust, but seals? I had a 2006 Corvette, spent it's whole time in Phoenix where it's hotter than heck. And the hoses and belts were still original and in excellent shape. 6 years is not that long.

How many miles on the vette?

Once a month is like 5-6 miles per month. No bueno. Would it be mint inside and out? Yes. Could it get on the road and be fine? Yes. Would there be an issue related to sitting forever? Absolutely.

I guess you've never had a car sit for a few months, let alone for a few years. Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - will have deteriorated to the point when it needs to be replaced. Yes, I would take a properly maintained 50,000 mile car over a 400 mile car that has sat for 6 years any day. Imagine this: you get two people in their 20's. One leads a normal life while the other is in a coma for 6 years. Which one do you think will be in better shape after those 6 years?

If your intentions are to completely rebuild and restore the vehicle from the ground up, the 400 mile car would be an excellent find. If you just want to drive it however, it is probably the worst decision you can make. Gasoline starts to separate after only a few months. The clutch plates on my P-cars bind and the diff seals start to leak when they are stored for only 4-5 months during the winter, and tires get flat-spotted from sitting (and that's on plywood and at 52 psi in a heated garage); if you raise it on jacks, then the struts give out as the portion of the piston that is usually inside the cylinder is now extended and exposed to air. This thing has had the same tank of gas sitting in it for over 3 years. Frankly, I would be surprised if the car even runs. As I said, I wouldn't touch it.

Exactly. In 5-6 miles you can't even get the oil to reach full temperature. All it would do is create lots of water in the crank case that will never have a chance to evaporate. This in turn makes the oil go acidic, and once you put metal in acid - well, we all know how that works. It's a ticking time bomb and money pit even if it runs at this time.
