Can you paint the chrome door handles on keyless go cars?
I have the chrome door handles on my car since I have the keyless go package. I have been told by a few shops now that chrome cannot really be painted because the paint wont stick. I know people vinyl wrap these handles on black cars but mine is red, and if the shade of red is not perfect it will drive me insane. Has anyone successfully painted these? Are they just plastic?
Thanks!

I wrapped the chrome on mine with black vinyl while on the car. Looks good - very clean. Keyless works fine.
I had thought about having the whole handle painted body color, but am happy with the wrap. On a steel grey car you get black metallic handles with chrome tops - 3 surfaces in less than a sqare foot.

I had it done on my car. It looks factory...and I expect it to hold up based on other experience with the same shop that did it. The key is in the prep...gotta get the chrome off (by sanding in my case although I understand that some people have just used acid-etch primer).

If you want to use vinyl wrap per your first post, you could use gloss black vinyl which will be easier to match (to the other 507 gloss black bits several feet away) than matching red vinyl to red paint when they are right next to each other. Having said that, I worry that vinyl may not be perfect for such a high touch part as the door handle...but I have no real basis for that worry...just gut.

Mine are painted no issues. Mine is acid etch primer or who knows maybe the shop didn't even do that they sure didn't sand it down they had to repaint them numerous times to get the quality I wanted I should have done it my self.
I had the front grill painted its fared ok too I drove thru a sandstorm it only got a few small chips

Yes. They are just inserts. My 507 came with the chrome handles, but I had them painted body color to match within the first few days. It has zero effect on the keyless go. Mine still works perfectly.
