valve train noise on start up

Hi, I have a 2013 C63 and often when I start the engine it makes an awful valve train noise, But only for an instant until oil pressure is up. I have searched the forum and haven't found much info.
Do any of you guys experience this It happens most when restarting the car when the engine is warm.

thanks for any info, mike

My ML used to do this when i needed to change the oil.
It used to start to happen after about 7000kms (after the last oil change)
It was like the "sign" for me to change the oil.
After oil change, noise is gone for another 7000kms (approx)

My car only has 5,000 miles and the oil was changed at 3,000. I will make an appointment for the dealer to take a look.

This noise worried me too. Even the new c63s have this. I think its normal. Mine only does this if not driven for over a week.

+1. I left my car for two months and went to start her up and valves tapping very distinctly for a good 10 minutes. I drove it easy, let the oil warm up and got back home (quick errand), the tapping was gone. I've got a little over 4,000 miles on it and only happened once after letting it sit for two months.

these cars are known for tapping if they sit around

they only other reason they will tap if they have very high KMs

my mate had a ML63 on the clock it said 90k but in real life it was 180000kms we found out the owner before turned the kms back dirty person

Mine does the same thing. Usually mine will do it on a warm start, not a cold start. It only happens now and then. I've got approx. 5800 miles and have had my oil changed once. I've not had it looked at, as it happens rarely. But I do hear it when it happens.

update,

I dropped my car off at the dealer last Monday. They were able to hear the engine noise and Mercedes has asked them to do some oil pressure and fuel pressure tests. Then asked them to make a recording of the noise to send on to Germany for them to hear. Hopefully they will come up with a solution next week.
Did I mention earlier I bought the car new and it only has 5,900 on the clock its a 2013.

Just recently I started my C63 after it sat for 2 weeks. No noise from the engine.

Yes I don't think it is normal. I'm interested to see what they will do about it.

New update

Well I got my car back today. Its all sorted finally after all the back and forth with Mercedes. They replaced both the left side cam actuators and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
Its so nice to have my car back those loaners just aren't the same.

10 C six trizzle
lifters or camshaft adjusters. No biggie, they'll fix it if it can be duplicated

Was it a very loud clacking noise? I just noticed the other day my car doing this. After a 5 min drive I stopped the motor for maybe 10 mins, then upon restart it was knocking hard. As soon as I put it into 'drive' though from 'park' the sound instantly went back to normal so I assumed it was the transmission?????

So do you think it is normal or they are fixing the wrong issue at the stealership?

The noise I had was only for a second or two on start up. It sounded like there was no oil in the valve train. Once oil pressure was up it was normal. Its fine now seems they fixed it.

The problem sounds like a stuck lifter to me. Not that uncommon and is usually intermittent and lasts from only a few seconds to maybe a minute.
