It was a good review in the sense he liked the C63 better in the end, but really, in all a pretty crap review.
No real world numbers etc. Nothing in depth. Just some sideways and sound clips.

I don't know.

Steve Sutcliffe is one of the best out there (on the same level as Chris harris) and he absolutely loved the F80 M3 when he drove it alone.

As a matter of fact, he was one of the first to offer a video review on the new F80. As far as numbers go, we all know the numbers regarding the 507. Harris doesn't bore us to death with those either. That's more of a Motor Trend/Car & Driver thing (i.e., instrumented tests).

I loved it. I thought it was brilliant because he gets the essence and the huge difference between AMGs...and everyone else.

He is me. It is what I tell people about how this car makes me feel. "I love this car, I love this car", is what he says at the end because the C63 connects like no other vehicle. It taps into your senses and you connect with the car . The M4, he felt nothing.

So sounds like the M4 is going to be faster than the C63 then?

Nice review but I can't believe his comment about throttle response... I come from a 135i (N55 engine, the M4's engine is a largely modified version of that), and I never felt turbo lag. Driving the C63 I don't feel more responsiveness in the delivery! More power sure, but did the 135i lack responsiveness... I don't think so.

The M4 has clever technology to always keep the turbos spinning, which should pretty much eradicate the last bit of turbo lag there is. So to me it sounds like he's just annoyed that the M4 is a turbo car.

On a side note the M4 does indeed not sound as good as my 135i with BMW performance exhaust. Bad mark for the M division here!

Probably close to equal. I'd give the edge to the W204 as far as top end is concerned. But you can certainly expect the W205 C63 to be faster than the F80.

No point going fast if you can't get excited about it. And the C63 takes care of business in that respect. Great video

They're in full meltdown mode over at Bimmerpost.

One guy said, "Mercedes should use more F1 tech in their cars, like BMW does."

I had to gently remind him that Mercedes has won every single F1 race this year and that BMW does not currently participate in F1.

And of course, everyone that has never driven a C63 is screaming, "It's only fast in a straight line!"

Oh the humanity.

c63's suspension is amazing might not be as good on track as M cars but more giggle per mile

However the DCT's in bmws cars are actually superb and yes the F1 comment i agree

I've driven the latest M6 and I will say there is a tad bit of lag on throttle response....
Jump out from the C63 into the M6 and it feels like you waiting an entire day for the car to go anywhere!
The throttle response feels terrible when you jump out the C63, into the M6!

There is turbo lag in every M6. Very bad if you drive it after the C63. I have a 335xi as well and it is annoying when you have to wait for the power. Even with the Jb4 it still lags a bit.

w 204 507 c63 vs bmw m3 video
I haven't drag raced since the seventies so I don't have time slips.
Using factory computer and watch, by the time four seconds rolls around, the speedo is past 60 and headed for 66 -67 mph. Not very scientific.
The 4.2 time to 60, for the C63 is the same published data, for the base c63 according to some mags. Some record the base model and all models as good as 3.7 seconds.
Then again some record 120 in a quarter mile. That might be about right, around here, with good cool dense air, at 800 ft elevation ,for some c63s.

My C63 507 pretty much pushed my expectations for everyday driving way too high. Says a lot when I get so addicted to the torque and throttle response, I had to get a 911 Turbo S for a weekend car...and I loved my E92 M3...
