black mirror housings on steel grey car?

what do you guys think about this? I'm looking to change the look of my 2009's ugly-*** mirrors with FL-look covers. I'm hesitant to get CF housings from eBay due to quality concerns, but saw some painted gloss black. I've seen 507's and BS' with black mirrors on non-black colored cars, but was wondering if they would look weird on a steel grey car with non-black wheels (I have the stock silver colored ones) and no black 507 stripe to offset the black color of the mirrors. I suppose they wouldn't look much different color-wise from CF ones. thoughts?

CF covers would suit your car more I guess. Black housings are better if you have black rims or blacked out grill.

There are enough black pieces on the car that the black would still look good. Especially if you blacked out the window trim with a similar black. For the price of changing the mirror housing you could probably wrap the window trim and maybe even the grill if you wanted to go the extra step and help them match other parts.

Sorry but never been a fan of black mirrors on non-black cars. Looks like they are unpainted. Get CF if u can.

On steel grey, I think black accent pieces look great. Black mirrors, Black spoiler, Black grille.

Just my opinion.

I agree that your dad's car looks awesome, but he does have black wheels to balance it out. I only have the stock wheels that aren't black...

You could always add some black accents like mentioned above. What I did on my C63 was get my wheels refinished gloss black as well for winter. It wasnt very expensive and they turned out amazing! With your style though I would keep the polished face and just get the inner spokes and barrel done in gloss black... add the mirrors and spoiler to that and it would look awesome! That way you have some chrome and gloss black accents that compliment eachother. There are some members on the forum who have painted the stock wheels in lots of different styles with black.

Before I wrapped my car, I tried putting black painters tape on my mirrors and seeing how I liked it. I wasn't really a fan, but eventually I got black wheels and went with the black mirrors and I think it looks great now.

You could probably always buy the covers and just get them repainted steel grey. They're pretty small so I can't imagine it would cost too much. Either way...I think the old mirror styles are absolutely hideous.

They actually look great, I did this until one of my mirrors got broken, then I ordered the CF ones...me personally, I liked the black look better but that's just me. I have a steel gray car too, or tenorite if your in Canada
