I have in BOLD and UNDERLINED - 923 and P30 but no 471 ( LSD Code ), from my research it would seem that the P30 pack HAS the LSD as standard but NOT the power upgrade.

Is that correct?

 

Im in Australia, my car has LSD option.

Did you have the Performance Pack optioned on?

 

No

But i dont think you have LSD, as it would be listed i think in a separate code.
I know you have P30 Code (which is more KW), and it gives a specific code for that (923), so if it has LSD, it would give the code for that i would imagine

 

thats what i suspected but from what i found out from another post.. the P30 AMG Performance pack is

- AMG Limited Slip Differential
- AMG Compound Braking System
- AMG Track-Calibrated Suspension - stiffer springs
- AMG Leather/Alcantara Performance Steering Wheel
- Top Speed: 174 mph

But no power boost from different engine internals, which would be the code 923?

So confusing.... I dont see separate codes for the Alcantara steering wheel or the upgraded calipers, so maybe that P30 code is inclusive of that?

Hmm, you raise a good point RE; Alcantara Wheel. Brake calipers are the same just painted red AFAIK (and its on your data card).
Its a hard one.

Is there a way of physically comparing the diffs? Im happy to take a pic of mine and post it, if its helps.

 

Here in the states, the LSD option is a separate stand alone option not included with the P30 package on the new models, looks like it might be the same on your side as well.

 

I see! When they deleted the LSD, at the same time they changed the P30 to the P31.

Grrr.... so confusing ehhh......

 

I suspect and HOPE this is the case that for Australian C63's, they were specced with the "old" P30 AMG package AND a separate 923 upgrade to the engine, from the codes thats what SEEMS to have happened.

They often release different versions of cars in different countries with different option packs... If anyone can confirm this.. that would be great...

 

I have a P30 C63 with the AMG LSD and its a separate item on the data card.

Damn... was hoping it was part and parcel of the P30 AMG pack....

What model year was the cutoff of the P30?

 

Checked the build date on mine. It's 02-11-2011.

 

In the US i think it was Dec 2009 production onwards, so the P30 became the P31. So i find it odd that Australian C63 would still have the P30 code rather than the P31, since MB specified to dealers that with the P31 they have to order the LSD as a separate item.

Thats where its confusing. Is there a way to easily TELL if i have the LSD or maybe I'll just go and bother the dealer.

Does anyone know if MB will retrofit the AMG LSD?

Also, if you were going to put one in, i would go WaveTrack LSD.
Everyone raves on about them.

 

This is the best i could do without jacking the car up.

2010 Built Factory LSD

 

In Canada it was in the 2010 model year sometime in the December build date that they switched to the P31 Development Package. It seems they still use the P30 reference as shown above.

OP I am pretty sure your P30 package does not include the LSD.

AMC893 I have the LSD but not the diff heat sink. That is a special edition or Aussie extra.

 

We had a quick compare of diffs today. They look exactly the same.

Is the housing the same for both LSD and the standard diff?

Based on today's observations it would appear to be the case or both our cars actually have the LSD installed.

 

The housing's the same. The only visible difference when the car is delivered is a sticker on the windshield reminding you to have the rear-end oil changed after 3,000 km. But that would be long gone.

Not having 471 listed means the car has an open diff.

 

Go get a WaveTrac LSD and have fun
