Any C63 gatherings for F1 weekend in Montreal?
Hey guys,
I was wondering, is anyone organizing a gathering for C63s this weekend in Montreal? I spotted two so far and I think it'll be cool if we all meet up...

Man, I wish I was there. I may try and make Austin this year, which is supposed to be a fabulous circuit. Living in NJ I had some hope that they'd keep the NJ race on for this year, but figured it would be a long shot (and the roads are so toasted here they would've had some serious prep work on their hands!). I'm still hearing that it may be on for next year, but still think Montreal would probably be far more fun. Enjoy the new turbocharged engines!

Today's F1 spec-racers were almost 10 seconds slower a lap at Monaco from 8 years ago and they sound like a hair dryer and have to get good mileage. Now that's progress. My W109 sounds better.

Fastest lap from ladt Monaco race vs record (Schumi on 2004) is 4 sec
Todays fastest in Canada is only 1 sec slower than Barrachelo 's record
The cars are heavier
Have less power
No traction control
Fuel limits
Smaller engines lower revs
MUCH less aero
Must be used for numerous races
Limited gearing changes
In 2004 they had special cars for qualifying
It's a miracle they are so close
Look at qual for 2013 and today
Fastest race lap 2013 weber lap 79 1:16.2
We'll see faster tomorrow

I'll 2nd that. It's amazing how these guys drive this season's cars. The ridiculous torque, no traction control, less downforce/aero. It's amazing. Yes, I've heard the cars sound worse (haven't been myself), but I'm cool with the new tech as well. The AMG car turbo design, from what I've heard, was totally new and revolutionary (not an engineer, myself. And I'm just happy that friggin' Red Bull has been unseated from their dominant position. I think Vettel needed a shakedown and it's even better that Ricciardo is outperforming him. Bottom line the drivers are amazing today driving these squirrely cars, relative to some of what they had to help them drive some years ago.

Let's not forget that the cars that set the records circa 2004 had been in a stable formula for several years and were fully vetted and developed
A new engine every race
Tire competition
The formula this year is a paradigm shift
Give them a season or 2 of stable rules and judge them
I've only heard them on tv so cant comment
I will say you could not derive conclusions on the sound of the old cars bases on tv
In person it is entirely different
